Which program to run this 5axis machine
@sadiedeee8 жыл бұрын
Amazing, even more impressive that you wrote 5 axis code by hand.
@ipadize7 жыл бұрын
Sadie Dutcher that is not really difficult because you just write the code like for a 3 axis cnc but also with rotational axis and the kinematics calculate the correct tooltip position in space

Nice project, really impressive. One question though - since it's welded, how will you align the Z-axis to move perpendicular to the table? Also have you thought about rigidity and vibration dampening? It looks as though the steel angles supporting the Z-axis will be the first to flex under moderate cutting forces.
@093tatsu77 жыл бұрын
Z-axis alignment can be easily performed with reasonable accuracy for hobby-use by predicting local thermal deformation when welding is made. Problems what you pointed are still remaining in this prototype CNC table. It has adequate strengs ageinst cutting force, but it has no sufficient danping factor. This is for light cutting force. Thanks!
@internationalprecisionengi17377 жыл бұрын
you can correct for non-ideal geometries (perpendicularity, linearity, co-linearity of two parallel axes) easily in Post-NC with an inverse kinematics model. We build machines deliberately with non-parallel axes for non-square component applications, think about it - when's the last time you've seen a square airplane?

nice work, i was building a 5 axis cnc made of lego technic but the problem is: The C axis (0-360°) always and only turns from 0-360° in + direction even if the toolpath in C- is like one degree (which means the path is 359mm shorter than turning in + direction) and that caused the machine to turn the c axis around and around and around for ever, if the code goes in the negative direction... and thats why i stopped that project

@tripives18587 жыл бұрын
Tatsu, thank you for sharing this. I am most impress with the fact that you wrote the CAM software. Did you base the software upon a slicing concept, or did you use a point-cloud concept? I've been thinking of writing a CAM package that uses a process by which the 3d object model is immersed in a point-cloud, determining which points are impacted and then generating a tool path. The benefit of this is that you can examine the angle of each surrounding point vs. the calculated point, and then ensure that the tool is always perpendicular to every angle on the objects surface.
