Which bearing did you use for the rotating square tubes?

I build one myself and used bushings. However, I would suggest to use industrial made bushings and to weld the hooks on the bars. Doing this way will shorten your constructing time. I'll send the link of my machine in another comment.

What measure did you take for the distance that the bales slide in nicely? Between the edge sheet and the wide sheet for the width. What bale width and how much play has the bale in the width

Agri Supply has them. They call them "Hay Grapple Hooks".
