For body soap caustic potash is to be added. It is potassium hydroxide....milder. For washing soap only caustic soda should be used. It is sodium hydroxide..stronger.

Excellent soap recipe and video. One of the easiest and clearest soap recipes I have seen. I love the idea of using paper cups as a mold for round soaps and to cure the soaps! I have made soap before. I love this recipe, and will try it. Thank you so much! I'll have to make a video of my Grandma's sugar and cinnamon toast scrub soap recipe. For others to try. It smells really good, and the kids and grandkids love it.. I use cinnamon, ginger, oatmeal and sugar in it. It smells great and the sugar stays granular, so it acts as a scrub as well. I use different oils and thus have to adjust the amount of lye and water with a soap calculator to get the right ratios. The different oils add different properties to the soap, such as moisturizer, lather, etc. I super-fat about 1-2% and measure with a scale to get it right, which is very important when using additives. I also make it hit process to keep the sugar from dissolving, and add the sugar last so it stays granular as the soap sets. I have to work pretty fast, as the additives make the soap set quickly, similar to pine tar soap, but not quite as fast. I suppose you can add the dry ingredients to any soap recipe to make a scrub. It makes a brown soap from thr cinnamon and ginger. I'd like to make a chamomile soap using very strong holy basil and chamomile tea as an anti-inflammatory, instead of adding plain water. I'll have to play with it. Perhaps I'll use aloe in it as well? Thanks again for the great, simple recipe! From California, USA.

Thank you 🙏. No expiry. Without caustic soda we can not make the soap in solid form. Caustic soda is made from wood Ash and it is not harmful when we keep it for 40 days.
