Hello , which drill bit you yused in this video for side bevel?
@redbarrelskis3361 Жыл бұрын
That is a 'custom' bit. Its just a router bit with the bearing on the correct side that I press fit a washer over.

Thanks for the video. How long are the skis in the press?
@redbarrelskis3361 Жыл бұрын
One of those pair was ~160cm, the other ~175cm.

Sorry for the poorly worded question. What amount of time do the skis stay in the press?
@spencerhoughton83353 жыл бұрын
Hey how come when you put the skis into press they are separated but when you are cutting them out with the jig saw they are connected with a white sheet?
@jdritchey57733 жыл бұрын
Hey, that’s because I used clips from a few different builds for this video

Wondering where do you get your components?
@redbarrelskis33613 жыл бұрын
Hey Peter, thanks for the comment. A few different places. Base, sidewall, and tip/tail fill from Crown Plastics. Epoxy from Entropy Resins. Topsheet (with graphics) from Codaboards. Wood's not too hard to come by. Metal Edges and VDS from The Ski Lab. Fiberglass (20oz triaxial) from Fberglass supply. I think that's about it. Cheers

Nice work ! How did you do the top sheet ?
@redbarrelskis33614 жыл бұрын
Hey, thanks for the comment! I'm not much of an artist, but I do like photography. So typically I grab a photo of mine and do some manipulation in photoshop (gimp works too). Then I use the company codaboards.com to order the graphics. Those folks do a really great job. I like their glossy nylon, its worth the few extra bucks. They have specs and tips for personal graphics on their website. They use wetransfer.com to transfer the graphics. I leave the protective film on them until I remove it from the press and clean in up. Its fun to remove the film as a very last step before mounting bindings...

great job...where did you get the graphics? looking at making graphics for my next pair
@redbarrelskis33614 жыл бұрын
Hey, thanks for the comment! I make the graphics with photoshop. Usually just manipulating a photo I took (I'm not much of an artist). Gimp works just fine too. Then I get the print from the guys at coda boards. I'd recommend the extra glossy vinyl, I think its worth the upgrade. I leave the protective film they ship it with through the press and cleanup. I remove it right before mounting. Good luck!!

What does your raw material cost run for a project like this?
@redbarrelskis33613 жыл бұрын
For top shelf materials, low volume production, its about $200 + $50 (shipping) and $25 (consumables). You can go without graphics and cheaper wood and bring it down to ~150 for the materials..
