As one of the former developer of the chan-sccp project, it's really nice to see someone using all the features we added over the years. Content creation and instruction video's seems to be in your blood and it would have been nice to have you on the team back then.

That's amazing - I'm glad you made your way over to my channel! I did study media and communications in college after all 😂 I live by myself now but have always brought the system with me, and it's still going strong. After these videos went up, I also got background images working and the system is as good as it'll ever be for my use. Thank you and the chan-sccp team for making this happen!

I was wondering if you were still involved. But no, the projects chan-sccp and its manager are not actively maintained. I wresteld this weekend with a fresh install Freepbx and Chan-sccp + manager but did not get the 8841's with enterprise firmware to register 😞. Even though following the setup-guide to the letter. Frustratining enough, the 8841 can register in a very limited Sip mode without problem. Must say Chan-Sccp is a real achievement.

Very nice! do you get your internet throught the wifi extender to the switch? like the internet comes from the extender??

Hey! Yeah, the WiFi extender repeats the signal and then connects to the switch since I didn't originally have a hardwired connection upstairs.

Is there a way to make it when somebody calls it plays a pre-recorded message where you can choose the extension? If so, how do you set it up?

You should definitely get a little mini PC. It’s about 100 bucks and then get yourself a little server back. I did that and I’m so glad I did because now everything is so organized and I have one little mini PC that hosts all my servers and network drivesthat I can remote access with VPN. I guess I mean it did take me a long time to get though because racks are a lot of money

Did you use a commercial FreePBX distro? Because AFAIK Zulu daemon is a commercial module, so I was just wondering

Not to my knowledge, but I think I may have purchased Zulu. I don't use it anymore so I can't say for sure.

I wish I could, but this was set up years ago, and I remember having to reinstall it once and that being a nightmare (I don't have a backup system I could mess with). My best recommendation is to check on KZbin now and Google, too. I've been seeing more videos and instructions coming up on how to do the proper install, which is great!

Unfortunately right now, I don't have the time to make an install video, but if you google something like "freepbx chansccp install guide" you should get some great documentation. That's what I did. Best of luck!

Can you use FreePBX to load the files through its Tftp server to convert a Cisco 7960 from the Cisco format to SIP if one loads the software files onto FreePBX. Personally the BLF keys will be used for four POTS lines coming in the trough a Grandstream FXO device.

I personally used a regular TFTP program to send the files, but I haven't tried doing it through FPBX.

I'm actually using the Sangoma distro Linux as well. Maybe you have a bad build or something...

Sangoma had issues recently according to Chris at CrossTalk Solutions. Their support has gone down the tubes.

What are the benefits to using a wall-mount bracket? I just use the foot rests which already have the keyhole wall mounts included.

Hey, if that works for you, all the better! I personally just find the bracket to be more professional and easier to use, especially if I want to take the phone off the wall without the mount, too.

Late comment, but have you gotten paging to work on the SCCP ciscos?

Sadly, no. However, the Bogen UTI1 still works great. I came to accept a long time ago that I just wouldn't get paging to work!

How did you get a phone number (maybe a trunk) to work with SCCP Manager?

The trunks work independently of whether SCCP Manager is installed. The phones will utilize the same dial pattern to reach an outbound trunk.

Sadly, haven't gotten it to work. That's partially why I resorted to buying a UTI1 off of eBay. I think I got it for around $75. Still works great and is fun to work with.
