The second bar you showed can be locked in with screwed in metal brackets that it slides down into. The old P90x bar was that style and it makes them much safer and sturdier while still being very easy to take off and put back up. Leaves 8 screw holes above the door if you remove it later but that's it. Highly recommend for anyone who is 200 plus pounds.

There's also tension pull-up bar. Kind of like 1:55 but have thick rubber caps as the ends, just screw the shaft so it push into the walls really tight, no crew holes or brackets needed. Sorry if I sound dumb, but what are slippers? I’m sure you don’t mean the footwear lol. I remember people talking about using towels. @skullboy1407
@skullboy1407 4 жыл бұрын
@@n0gginb0nker87 haha I do indeed mean the footwear! I know it sounds strange however the shape of them allows them to be slipped on (excuse the pun) the ends of the bar that touches the frame. Also because of the material it softens the pressure between that and the door frame. You are correct though a towel would work however it is not as easy to slip on as slippers are 👌🏻.

@@asdfasdfuhf Jumping up there to begin at the top position put a lot of stress on the bar's two contact points. The foam had also begun to wear out. The wood is probably pretty soft as well. @@BackyardNinjaKids I meant when you put the pull up bar on the header and do pull ups, would it it not cause for the header to get damaged. I was looking at the header in my room and it didn't seem strong enough to hold my weight while doing pull up.

@@PhilipJesus It's probably not for all doors, but it's a crazy physics problem. With the leverage it's creating and where, nearly all door frames with trim can hold us the pullup bars no problem. If it's a screw in kind, than nearly every door frame.

Most say around 250lbs max. I don’t think it’s a limitation of the pull-up bars as much as it is the trim and door frame

We should be mounting pullup bars in HALLWAYS. We'd have a lot more height to work with than a door frame. All that is needed is steel pipe (cheap) and bases that can be anchored to the studs of each wall. Even better, span 2 studs with a thick piece of plywood. And mount each plate so it has some vertical support, say 1' tall for each plate. That should be rock solid.
