I'm doing IPL and I use a red and near infrared (650 and 850nm) panel at home (just something from ebay). 2x daily for 15 minutes for the past 2 weeks. Science: mitochondrial photostimulation has been shown to increase ATP production and cause transient increases in reactive oxygen species. Sadly nothing seems to help in my case (fish oil, ikervis drops, borage oil, heating,...) and I have no other underlying conditions. I haven't even had a cold in the past 15 years, just woke up one day with this curse. But it's only been 4 months since I started to work on this condition, so I'll keep dragging on. PS: thank you for your videos dr. D. I find it very helpful knowing there's people out there that understand this condition and are working to spread the knowledge.

At the very least it's warming the area just like a warm compress. And.... Helping those eye wrinkles! 🎉

Darn! I thought I was onto something really cool! You brought up some great points about the strength of the at-home red light therapies. I was actually just looking at that very same mask you have in your hands! Hoping it would be awesome for dry eye...guess not. Bummer.

HI, I just purchase the currentbody eye perfecter after a LOT of research - the LEDS sit much better to hit the meibomian glands, do you have any comments?

Thank you for this video. It's a relief that at least we know that it can't damage vision and eye health. Hopefully we'll have more data

Just to confirm my Omnilux face mask for aging skin must be ok to use without goggles or sheilds, because I've just learned red light is actually good for the dry eye (which i have) correct? I was very nervous to use the mask at first without covering my eyes, but good to know it may actually help my eyes.

Hi. I just happened to see your video regarding using red light therapy to improve eyesight in aging patients. I have been using a Celluma light panel for one year now. I'm nearly 70 yrs. old (in Nov.). I bought it to try to increase collagen production in my skin as well as to help with injuries (healing broken wrist, lower back surgery). At my recent eye exam, they checked my vision wearing my regular glasses, as well as without, of course. I've gotten two new prescriptions since this pair of glasses and due to my husband's passing, surgeries, injuries, etc., hadn't gotten new lenses. My vision with my 3-4yr. old glasses was 20/20 this last visit. This may be due to my use of the Celluma which I use every other day for 30 minutes (with lids closed). Do you think it may have helped? Jackie Key, NC

Dr., Your concern about dosage is laudable, but there are so many variables that it might be more useful to aim for more practical measures. Also the precise position of the LEDs might not be that important as the therapeutic effect is diffused through the tissues..

LLLT has been replaced by "PBM", photobiomodulation, in PubMed MESH search terms, since about 2015. Regarding blue light for therapy, there is a fairly specific wavelength band in the blue region that affects the melinopsin receptors in the eyes, which affect the pineal gland, ... which affects the body's circadian rhythms, by affecting release of melatonin. Time of day for treatment may be important, as blue light stimulation in the evening can lead to ... well, that stuff above. This is why the blue-light blocking glasses are important. Most of our LED-lit devices (er, everything electronic it seems) emit more heavily in the blue side of the visual spectrum. I would also be concerned about the effect of high blue light stimulation on the macula, but, that's just me.

This whole use of light therapy reminds me of early twentieth century quack medicine. A lot of fancy hardware and wishful thinking.
@kl690 Жыл бұрын
The difference is red light therapy is heavily researched & backed by many studies. Not much quack medicine there
