Home Sweet Home Better Than DBD?

In Today's Episode of playing stuff, I take on the role of a boxcutter killer, and rampage around my home, sweet home, as my 4 friends try to exorcise me. This game has a lot of the in depth mechanics that I greatly appreciate and feel as though it has potential to be better than DBD given good development. We shall see!

I think this game has HUGE potential. Not that it can beat or even replace dead by daylight, but I love the dynamic of the Hunter vs Hunted quickly swapping roles. Encouraging the hunter to kill early so they have less resistance once the survivors get the rituals done.

Thanks for the video! I've really been enjoying this game so far. It makes for a great change of pace from DBD. It's nice to have multiple games like this to switch between to keep things feeling fresh, personally.

Oh, I'm pretty sure the fall can kill, or could. I think I've seen it happen. Also, Iirc from watching survivor side for others, if the timer stops, their soul is being carried, and I think they can self revive too

The fall can kill but you have to only have a slither of health left which can only really happen from abusing drops.

In the end, we don't yet need a game better than DBD, we simply need more DBD competitors, period. With more options, people will move onto their preference, forcing DBD to improve or shrivel away like pubg is currently with fortnite. More options = improvements for every game involved

All I want is for DBD to lose it’s Monopoly. I don’t hate DBD at the end of the day but there is no doubt that the game would be way better if they felt the need to maintain player retention. (Just look at their battle pass, unlike most games you have no way to gain currency on the free tiers, just goes to show their lack of confidence and greed)

Definitely correct on the game needing polish. Looks decent but doesn’t trigger the interest that Dead by Daylight and Resident Evil Resistance for me but I’m definitely keeping an eye on this one.

I still think the game needs some fine tuning. There's a lot of things that are super strong on both sides. For instance, survivors' chase-ending holes and spectre's 5 second complete invulnerability with a 20 second cd. Spectre is definitely a lot easier to learn. I've been having a lot of fun playing it though

I was wondering what your thoughts on this game would be. In the beta I remember thinking that the specter was a little too powerful (I think they toned her down), but I love how the game plays and I hope it does well.

i'm seeing the opposite where people think the game is lame since you can actually fight back against and kill the killer. But of course, comments are comments so maybe all those people are just dumb.

@@FEfan56 You can only kill the killer when you've done the rituals which takes quite a while, it's not like you can get them right away, and you will lose to the specter in a slugfest.

sometimes different is more important than better. DBD is like 5 years old and gameplay from the "experts" has wittled down to just crying about metas, nerfs, and buffs for 7 hours a day.

Great game. I just hate the fact that survivor que is so long. The game have potential even when it’s early access only. Dbd survivor mode just get too boring for me after playing many times. All we do is run and do gen. Only thing I love playing as a survivor is the 180 and 360 jukes, but besides that it’s pretty damn boring compared to home sweet home. Monster in dbd is better than survivor. I’m having a blast with HSHS playing as a Spector and survivor.

2 minutes in and I can tell your opinion hasn’t changed...in this game the very first thing you do is destroy survivors defenses..just the fact that a killer can do that should show you that it’s not survivor sided.

How much is it looks pretty cool I'm not sure tbh iv been burned by a few of these games last year, deathgarden ect... But this did look pretty fucking cool 🤠 I like the spectre mode just like last year honestly looks just like it in 3rd person I loved that game player base just never got there ya know Edit: just picked up home sweet home and i gotta stay its a big step up from last year in all ways sept graphics id say played 4 games so far at a good price point and alot of fun too :)

& you say this is Survivor sider? Looks more like killer sided to me, these kina games are never balanced. Invincibility, teleporting to a random survivor, phase shift, break the walls, break lockers, where is that in favor of the Survivor, DBD is killer based too but it's better then this

@@TydeTyme Yeah and when I do get a game the Spector leaves unless they are 20ish ranks above me ;v; If I play as Spector I get 0 kills cuz I'm level five and trying to learn, I've watched all sorts of videos but I learn by doing. I get its new so I'm sure it will get better :3 thanks for answering btw

You said the same thing about Soul at Stake and look what happened to it. People trashed it for being a “Chinese ripoff” and “a clone”. That’s just the nice stuff without getting into the racist remarks. Granted SAS is playable still and has plenty of content since 2018, but you have to schedule it with friends. So yeah…Let’s face it. Unless lots of streamers who do a lot of DbD play it more than ONCE, it won’t take over the DbD fan base, especially the cult followers.

@@TydeTyme My bad. Though you seemed to be one of the few people who didn’t try to trash it the first chance they got. I’ll admit it needs an upgrade with graphics and changes to mechanics (such as stamina meter for dodge, reduced stun on bell), but I do think SAS had/maybe still has potential to be its own game. Hell, they’re making another DLC as we speak. I think by now they have about 17 ish Gamblers and 17 or 18 Devils now? I’m being honest though, I feel the only thing setting SAS back right now is COVID and finances. If it had even 5% of the average base as DbD did, it would probably be a game people would hop onto after they got their “fill” of DbD. Not even has a competitor, but to show that DbD doesn’t have to be a monopoly in a pile of games who tried the 4v1 horror stuff. And the irony is that people complain about DbD but yet the community pushes out any different games. And then wonder why no games can compete with DbD when their gaming experience goes south.

I really don't see why people like this game so much. The variety of survivor defenses aren't something that I'd think of as "depth" so much as just an overabundance of different mechanics. There are redundant holdovers from what is clearly DBD "inspiration" that don't make sense for this game. The HUD is atrocious with information all over the place. There's too many sources of frustration for killers (the abundance of survivor defenses and items, the clunky controls that make you miss attacks behind your own model gives the survivors cover and controller-based movements are both incredibly janky and easy to juke) with too little reward. Graphics are a matter of taste, but they're pretty bad here. I don't think that this game has potential to be better than DBD. The only potential it has is that, for some reason I can't understand, a lot of people seem to really like it - and that's the only thing this game has going for it. I find it boring to watch compared with DBD and I just don't get what people see in it. It's just a janky mess, in my eyes.

Well it wouldnt be bad if Dbd got some competition so they dont have a monopoly .Deathgarden died,Last Year can only be played 2-3 rounds and thats it.Friday the 13th is the only game that is still standing. huh... 5 videos in playlist but when i open it it shows only this video? quite confusing. I've seen other videos of this game too and in one of them the guy mentioned the following: There was bait and price switching; There are loot boxes (~2,50$/each) and ~25$ low effort costumes. That guy disliked this kind of predatory behaviour from the developer. What is your feeling about that stuff? You sayed gameplay feels good and you liked it but are there stuff you dont like about this game? Also the big elephant in the room: Is there also pay2win stuff in this game? My kind of perspective up to this point is the content consumer kind. I like watching stuff about it and if the developer buts out nice stuff and further develop the game then i will throw my money at it. What also bucks be a bit is that i could only find 1 guy that has spoken negatively about this game. Pretty much everybody else just had compliments for it.

I think you all are overhypping this game, yesterday I bought it and i couldn´t play a single game of survivor, but the specter queue was instant. When you are specter not only you have to hit 4 hits to down a survivor, but also he can get revived one time per match easily. On top of that hit registration is awful.

Yes but unlike dbd they can't heal together. They have to be lucky yo find an item to even heal them. In dbd you also have to hook after downs and waste time with that

Yea like Tyde said there is only one healing item in the game so you kind have to rely on chest rng for health as a survivor. Knowing that you can just whack everyone you see instead of just tunneling one survivor trying to get a kill. If they are hurt they will most likely be looting chests for health instead of doing the rituals.

More times that not the survivors just have piles upon piles of items I find it hard to keep the pressure I think if aimming hits was easier tho this wouldn't be so much of an issue for me anyway
