i remember there was a theory back when this first came out that Tyrian, being a scorpion faunus, is highly sensitive to vibrations, therefore when his opponents are swinging their weapons through the air he has a much easier time fighting, but when there is no weapon he cant react as quickly... therefore hand to hand is his weakness, but fighting groups of opponents is his specialty.

Its a consistent theory, he struggles when in environments where sight is required (Scorpions have bad vision), but overperforms relative to himself in areas where sight is useless.

That's a fair assumption to make really, despite only ever having one physical animal trait we know that Faunus also get the benefit of less obvious animal abilities, having night vision even when their Faunus trait isn't their eyes is one that is pointed out to us, but we have also seen fangs, the ability to roar and growl, extra agility and/or strength depending on the main Faunus trait, etc.

@@RyderDunei Yeah (spoiler alert) I always disliked how they soften Blake up sooo much later in the series, where as I wish they had kept reserved, resting bitch face Blake, since cats are know to be aloof, and showed her character development in more subtle ways. I like how early on, they would show characteristics of the animal the faunis were associated with in their personality. Like the way Blake acted around Ruby and Yang's dog in volume 2, in the dorm, or Sun's mischievous personality, like a stereotypical monkey.

@@heidibailly2835 It depends on the cat too. I've known super-aloof cats that only deign to allow pets under duress. I've also known cats who are absolute cuddle-sluts and seek out attention at any and all possible times. So SPOILERS ( ( ( Softening Blake's personality in later seasons makes some sense, because she might be one of those who opens up over time, instead of staying super stand-offish and aloof. ) ) )

@@Talon1124I understand, I have several cats, and also foster and TNR, I know some are more cuddly. (SPOILER) That's why I used the word stereotypical. I get what you're saying though. Most well socialized, confident cats will have very loving, cuddly moments, but the stereotype exists for a reason, and I just with they had continued to lean into it.

Fun fact: Qrow's weapon is named _Harbinger._ 50:49 - Keep in mind that, despite his goofy mannerisms, Sun is a team leader. He would have no problem giving orders and commands if the situation calls for it.

The entire RWBY fandom had a collective meltdown when Jacques hit Weiss. One of the few times it’s collective agreed on something! Who else wanted to throw Jacques into a wood chipper? Also props to both of them for not immediately hating Whitely and theorizing how Whitely mindset was molded by Jacques. Also yes, Kali and Ghira are THE BEST.❤️🥰 (Also Alicia and Koma’s discussion from 7:00 to 9:41 on Aura was pretty interesting! Both raised good points!) It kind of relates back to how Yang can feel through her prosthetic arm as if it were flesh despite it being metal through infusing it with aura.

@@davidkoudelka10 I seriously wonder what Taiyang’s semblance is, at first I thought it would be something similar to Yang, but now I speculating what if it’s actually the opposite. Where Yang gains strength the more she is damage, Taiyang becomes more resilient as he takes damage.

I also remember that CRWBY said they had to slow down Qrow and Tyrian in this fight, it was supposed to be about double the speed, but they couldn't render it in a way that made it look good.

@@sahandriel At least we can manually set it to 2x speed. Although I imagine it is only suppose to be Qrow and Tyrian to be fighting that fast and everyone else is slower.

The hilarious thing is Jacque clearly doesn't understand how people work. The only connection Weiss felt to her dysfunctional family was the responsibility of being the heiress to the family. Then he takes the position away from her and is surprised that she leaves. He still doesn't know why she stays away even after her return.

Yeah, and considering huntsmen are basically super humans with auras that can help them survive cannon blasts and semblances (take your pick), a couple dozen normal humans and Faunus with body armor and guns is far less of a threat. Plus Neo took out an entire crew of an Altlesian airship. That’s not exactly a small feat (then again she had her illusions on her side + assassination skills so…🤷‍♀️)

19:00 Ruby shooting off Tyrian’s tail and 19:08 Tyrian actually saying “b*tch” in RWBY was a surprise the first time! (And shows that the show is much more mature) (Doesn’t help that some people actually got mad that Ruby shot off Tyrian’s tail.😒) Also, the song during the Qrow vs Tyrian fight is called “Bad Luck Charm”. Another allusion to his power.

@@Zack_Zander Yep. In particular Judgmental Critter was the one to give this take, saying “Ruby should be adverse against shooting someone’s limb off because her sister got her arm cut off. It’s out of character for her to do that as she should be against it”. This isn’t what she said word-for-word, but it’s the main idea. When I brought this up in a discussion with someone else, Kaiser Shounen (one of her friends) defended this take and we proceeded to argue on it for several hours.

@@davidkoudelka10 I… I don't even get that explanation. Tyrian worked for Salem, which Ruby knows that Cinder is a part of. Plus, Tryian also slashed and severely injured Qrow. I don't see any reason why shooting Tyrian’s tail off wouldn't make any sense after what just happened, and how that has anything in common with Yang’s arm getting cut off by Adam.

@@Zack_Zander That’s what *I* said! Besides, even if she was against it, it was clearly a quick decision that lasted for a second at most. Are we to judge a character for that, especially when they are a child that just watched their uncle nearly get stabbed? I know for a fact that I would do the same, as well as anyone in my family would. Despite this they still argued against it. (Also forgive me, apparently it wasn’t Kaiser Shounen. Some other Judgmental critter supporter apparently)

For maidens, if you're thinking of someone as you die, and that person happens to be a young woman, then she's the first candidate for the power to go to, but if it's a guy or an old lady, then it's a random young woman. In cinder's case, it was double stacked in her favor because she already had half the power, and she's a young woman, and her attack practically ensured she was the last person in Amber's thoughts better she died. But, if you're aware of that rule of "last thought" and you know you're about to die, you could have some control in ensuring it doesn't go to someone by thinking of someone else

@@shadow-faye Young enough to pass as a student from Haven academy. lol I remember there being some debate as well that if Cinder was killed by Ozpin, she would think of Salem to give her power to, so Ozpin (supposedly) held back and chose to just lose that fight instead of the worse option. Though it's an even BIGGER debate if Salem is considered "young". lol

Fun fact: the type of grim that the knight that weiss summons is actually a gheist. The sams ghost type grim that rwby and team ranger fought that uses its surroundings as a body. The one weiss has just so happens to be possessing a suit of armor.

In the Schnee family portrait in the beginning of the volume Jacques' hair was greying, I think his hair might just be white with age/stress from running a megacorp.

I always find it amusing how much of a big deal it was back when Tyrian said "Bitch" like people were actually shocked since I think it's the first curse in RWBY. Which I found funny since yeah, you cut off a appendage if his, how else would someone react?

I don't think Qrow's bad luck directly affects him, just everyone round him. The Beowulf we saw him kill was stalking team RNJR. Qrow does probably attract more Grimm then most, but that is because of his feelings about his semblance rather then the semblance itself.

Spoilers for V6 I don't know if anyone has put this together, but I just did. The reason that the power of the maidens transfers to another person instead of just fading away, is because they came from Oz. Since the God of Light gave Ozma the power to reincarnate, his magic also goes with him. The Maiden powers are just Ozma's power in another person, so they can also be transferred upon death. My mind is blown.

Never thought of it that way but makes sense. He says his magic is diminishing, so "Ozma" is a finite volume of magical energy that can't leave the mortal world now, no matter the form he gave it.

Who else thinks that little punch combo from Qrow was one of the highlights of this volume? Just seeing him go bare knuckles was so refreshing considering we’ve had countless fights where people use their weapons and seem defenseless after losing them (in various anime mind you).

Honestly. Tai comes off as a know nothing dick in this season that means well but is pretty much as uninformed as he is out of the field. I blame him for Yang getting bodied all throughout V5 because shes too afraid to attack when she should because apparently shes not supposed to use her semblance she rarely uses, meanwhile Weiss and Blake may as well be chucking glyphs and shadow clones even after it doesnt work rather than doing some buildup. Its like watching an FGC champ being told no after losing once and getting bloody while amateur lower rung players are being encouraged to keep doing stupid shit and get wrecked rather than hold the ults. Kinda treats her more as a nerfed for the sake of developing other characters just to have them kinda fail by comparison when they should step up in a big fight. In my opinion V6 forward fixes this really good. Really brings back her normal fighting mentality while also focusing on the actual exploitable issue that even Winter mentioned in Volume 3, her emotions.

I'm mad with how they made Ruby miss that clear headshot at Tyrian, they should've atleast had her graze Tyrian a few times. We've seen how good of a sniper she is with Crescent Rose in her "Red" video.

To be fair I think the Red trailer was confirmed as non-canon. Plus this shows the disparity of power between Tyrian and RNJR. They’re fighting against one of the best. But I get what you mean.

They have her miss that clear headshot because it’s supposed to be a subtle hint that Qrow’s semblance is affecting her, even at that distance.

Wait, Jacques dyes his hair??? I thought he was just older and it turned white since we do see him with dark hair in the family portrait. There is a theory Winter dyes her hair that I knew of from the RWBY fandom since her eyebrows are black where Whitley, Weiss and mom are white. So, possible confirmation???

I think her backstory involves her "passing" for human, something she grew to kind of resent, right? So did she stab him out of anger more than just a distraction?

*INTRODUCING* - The Brothers of Light and Darkness (The Brothers Grimm) - Ilia Amitola (Mowgli) *WEAPONS* - Ilia's Lightning Lash (whip + taser) *SEMBLANCES* - Qrow's Misfortune (randomly causes small kinetic shifts in his surroundings, whatever would possibly inconvenience someone else nearby) - (UPDATE) Weiss's Glyphs (can summons a full Arma Gigas) *TERMS* - Relics: Sacred objects that embody Creation, Destruction, Knowledge, and Choice. It's said that bringing all four together can change the fate of the world. They're currently kept safe deep within the four Huntsman Academies. - Jacques's birth name is Jacques Gelé (pretty much French for "Jack Frost"). It's detailed in World of Remnant, but he convinced the Schnee Dust Company's founder, Nicolas Schnee (based on Santa Claus), to mind his dwindling health (from constant Dust-mining) and let him lead the company. - The Schnees have had different reactions of Jacques's abusive domineering. Weiss: "Fight" - snap back and be as rebellious as possible, lending to her harsh attitude in the first Volume. Winter: "Flight" - just getting away from Jacques by joining the Atlesian military. Whitley: "Fawn" - act however he can to appease the abuser and mitigate the hurt. Oh, and don't worry, I'll tell you what their mother's response was... - The thing about the Misfortune Semblance is that Qrow can't just disable it - it's always passively active. - Tai raises good points. Aura can only protect you for so many hits, and activating Semblances like Burn can whittle that Aura down faster. Yang has been taking a lot of hits throughout the first three Volumes, and that mentality bit her when she tried to go for Adam. - What Whitley commented about Huntsmen...I think this is a mere prelude to seeing how Atlas typically views Huntsmen.

Important note on qrows semblance, it affects him as much as everyone else, more even, which means he effectively fights with not just no semblance, but a negative one. Hes just better at dealing with it than anyone else.

Whitley gets way too much shit. Hes as trapped as the others are and you can see it as far as fis first appearance. All in all Weiss and Winter being indifferent or negligible to him is just as bad as the other way around. Double props for the fact his father wanted to groom him to be am heir so it seemed to Weiss and Winter moreso like he was the honoured one. Triple props to how much of an unbearable obnoxious asshole Weiss was in V1 with her title as opposed to Whitley NOT being a piece of shit to Weiss 3ver and only condemning her actions the moment she accused him.
