Totally feel you in everything you've written here; I had the pleasure of bumping into Julien at the 2012 France WTC at Hossegor and had a natter to him after his heat - after engaging him he immediately flashed me a genuine smile, despite his heat going badly and happily took a photo with me. I wished him good luck and he said he didn't need luck, he just had to remember to believe in himself - words that resonated with me; especially his choice of the word 'remember'... Can't wait to see more of him in the water asap. A fully deserving champion with an incredibly humble yet gritty approach. His flow is the most unreal I've never seen in anyone in the water... We're all fully behind you Julien, if you're reading this - just remember to believe in yourself bro and keep having fun no matter how intense it seems! 🙌
