Can't believe Samir has his roots just 100 km from where I live. What a small little world we live in.

I hitchhiked across India about a year after you published this video, and passed through many towns and tier 2/3 cities like this, but as a traveler, not as a guest like you. It's amazing to see people's lives unfolding in your video, to catch a glimpse of someone's deep, meaningful memories of a place you're only visiting for a moment. Makes me realize and remember that amidst the noise, dust, and crowds, there are incredible, decades-long stories playing out all around us. Thanks for the video Samir 🙂 do let me know if you and Colin are ever in Bengaluru, would love to meet you guys and show you around! -Caleb

Hey Samir, I'm half Indian and I'm going to India for my first time. I was curious to know, what was the whole experience like? I'm nervous but excited to see what the difference will be like. By the way this was an excellent video. Support all the way from New Zealand!

myself also being indian, born there actually but I came to america at a young age. I visited back a few times but all i mainly suggest is too be very aware when out at the stores ( bizarres ) as well as be really cautious to the food and drinks u consume because your stomach is most likely not used to indian cuisine and u might get sick off of it. India is a beautiful country man i hope u enjoy :)

Hey Samir and Colin! I used to watch your TLN videos all the time when I played lacrosse in high school. The other day I stumbled upon this channel because I too am into filmmaking and entrepreneurship. Long story short, this was a great video and I can relate in so many ways! This past summer I traveled to Pakistan, my dad's home country, for the first time and I vlogged my experiences and put them here on KZbin. I went though the same process of seeing where my dad grew up and observing all the people he knew and who remembered him. Watching this video was almost an exact replication of the videos I made and what I saw while I was there. Thanks for the reminder of all the good memories!

This is a great video. When your dad didn't recognize the school at the beginning he had this look of fear/worry on his face and I love how that changed by the end. I live in the town my dad and grandfather grew up in and I love hearing their stories about the old days there and this reminds me a lot of that.

Though I live in Florida, I returned for a month to my home country of Bangladesh with my family. My dad took me and my family to his hometown (a small village now a city) of gopalganj. It was my first time in my life ever out of the city of Dhaka, the countryside was so different. We stayed at his house, which used to be a shed-like thing made out of rusty metal. He took me around town, we got some sodas and Bangladeshi snacks and stuff, while running into my dad's old friends and neighbors. My dad being a doctor, saw some sick people and gave them advice and prescriptions. We had lots of blackouts, got to see a lot of stars, we went fishing, I pumped water out a a well (fun for me at least). I loved it, it was on of the highlights of my trip. I'm honestly shocked by how similar my experience was in comparison to yours. I felt JUST like you did and was happy my dad got to see his old friends. Definitely looking forward to more of your videos (I don't care what the topic is) in the future! See you you guys around!

yo samir that video gave me some goosebumps. Last year I went with my parents to Pakistan. I have been there only 3 or 4 times an the last time it was almost 20 years ago. I was born in Italy, grew up and lived almost my whole live in Germany, so I feel like a German (as long no stupid people, don't remind me that I'm brown). That visit to Pakistan, as an grown up, made me realize what Pakistan the community and the culture meant to my father and where I come from. Watching you and your father walking thru the village and he explaining where is room/dorm was and what he did what he was little, reminded me of my father telling me the same exact things and nearly the same language (Urdu). So sad that Pakistani and Indians can't get along there. Whish you guys all the best. If you come to Berlin/Germany and need some help contact me.

There is so much of respect for you and your parents by my side there are not a lot of 2nd gen Indians or even Indian who moved abroad out there who respects their roots this much but everytime you talked about it i felt that you are not just saying it for the sake of something you feel it and we feel the same through you. These are the times or moments when we start appreciating whatever we have and i wanna thank-you for reminding us that. Well it's a old video but it's powerful it's been a long while I'm following you guys never got it in my suggestions but ig it's never too late.
