The builder paint will not be the exact match. Luckily the builder left us paint from the construction. When the paint doesn’t match you can repaint the entire hall for it to blend in. Try not to use rollers when tying to paint a small patch. It’s kinda like tap painting with a hand brush. That really helps to blend in the paint. Please ignore the negative comments.

I purchased a Meritage home a couple months ago and my type A personality wants to do everything right now, but slow and steady cause my pockets weren't ready for how much people charge for things. Yessss so when we purchased our home we knew we didn’t love “everything” about it but Meritage has a way with giving you a good head start to some DIY projects to elevating your space! But we’re definitely taking our time and starting with the least expensive projects and doing it ourselves has saved us some $

Hi Brittany, I love how the frame for the TV came out. For the mudroom, I would probably recommend bringing the black paint to the side walls at the side angle if you're not able to find the right color. Given it's the mud room and may get scuff marks overtime, painting the side walls in black may be a good idea.

Brittany!!!! Girl everything is coming along so nice I love the decor. I think you did a great job on the DIY. If the bumps bother you add some Bondo to those spots and then sand down with an electric sander and on the bottom where the bins go that space in the middle place a piece of trim or molding to hide the gap before placing the cushion on top other than that everything looks amazing

Hey love take a piece of paint off the wall from an inconspicuous spot and take it to get color matched. That’s what I had to do to get the exact match. You can save a piece in a ziplock bag or something.

Hey lady bug …contact your builder they should have left you a small can of touch up paint at closing but your builder can tell you were to get the exact paint they used in your house :) but the diy looks good !

First off Queen you are doing amazing give your self praise and grace. DIYs are not easy. The mudroom looks great. So one thing I thought of is to get a few basic corner wood trim paint them before you put them up then nail them in. It will turn any imperfect corner into a perfect clean line. Can you make sure the city loft is not the Sherwin Williams one? There is a builder grade version that new construction typically uses. I learned this the hard way too

If it's the City Loft pain that is not matching.......I have the same paint. Sherwin Williams rep had me cut a piece of paint from my closet and bring it in. That worked for me. The color matches perfectly.

We got 1x4’s cut into 8pcs because that’s the design we chose. It really depends on what you want it to look like and how tall you want. Our overall mudroom is 5ft tall

How are y’all able to budget everything and how do y’all learn to make these things

We don’t over spend, buy things resale or clearance, we work on ONE room at a time, we plan out our design so we’re not buying unnecessary items. As for DIY projects we literally watch KZbin tutorials and figure out the rest ourselves. Trial and error 🤣🥰
