It's really alarming that many here are electricians and not aware of this. There should be some yearly certification update for electricians so that the can clear it and be certified with latest advancements in the field. Ensures that all are updated and provide safer environment to their clients. Also corruption should not be there in these certifications. Common people likee don't even know what MCB, RCCB is even tough we've seen these next to our electrical meters. Thanks for the wonderful explanation. I'm now aware of how it works.

Rccb,,, best video on electrical safety. A must for every electrical connection, whether domestic or industrial. V did not know of this earlier. V started gaining awareness Only after v began watching ur videos. V fail to understand that why state electricity boards do not mandate installation of safety devices such as rccb. Becoz, they are govt departments having expertise on the subject. V keep hearing occurrences of electrical accidents every now n then. Nobody bothers to find out reasons for same much less publicizing the same. General public are not n cannot be aware of such safety standards. Due to lack of govt strict regulations on such safety standards, we often rely on a lay electrician or a little experienced electrician to lay wiring s n safety devices for our newly houses to be built up. Becoz, it is easier n cheaper to pay. If an engineer (electrical) is engaged, he has to be paid more. More often than not, we do not know the import of trained engineers. Another factor that worsens the plight of users is that the jurisdiction of state elec boards engineers n staff does not extend beyond meter installation into the house once new installation is okayed by the board.. This was the position earlier to establishment of state ptcl s. I donot know whether it is changed now. It is high time to amend laws relating to inspection of houses n other structures' electrical installation extending into inside of houses etc periodically by govt elec authorities to ensure safety for all time. If the owners fail to adhere to safety standards, then electrical supply be cut off till safety standards are complied with.

MCB provides protection against overload, short circuit and electrical fire. RCCB provides protection against electrical leakage. Both RCCB and MCB are different electrical protective devices. Both RCCB and MCB are mandatory requirement for resdential electrical installations. *Features of 3 circuit protection devices (SPD, MCB & RCCB/RCBO) people have probably forgotten* *Circuit protection devices* Traditionally, fuses were the main devices chosen for final circuit protection, up until the 1970's. Today, the three principle circuit protection devices are: SPD-Surge protecting device, protection against lightning and impulses MCB-protection against short circuit and overload RCCB/RCBO-Protection against residual or leakage current *SPD-Surge protecting device* Surge protection devices (SPD) provide protection against overvoltage which typically originates from lighting strikes on the site or to the site from the electricity grid and tele-communication network. Overvoltage is an excess amount of energy which can damage electrical equipments. *MCB-Miniature circuit breaker* MCBs provide over current and short circuit protection only and are unable to detect residual current (earth leakage current) unless it is large enough to be classified as an overload or short circuit. Also, there are some instances where it may be preferable to use an MCB in conjunction with a separate RCCB rather than an RCBO, as the use of separate devices can give a wider choice of protection characteristics. In those cases where MCBs have been selected as the most appropriate protection device, the next step is to decide as per IEC/EN 60898 defined type of MCB according to their operating characteristic. In consumer unit applications it is rare to see anything other than Type B MCBs, with the occasional use of Type C devices on high inrush circuits such as some lighting loads. This means that devices must be chosen with ratings appropriate to the application and size of cables in use. A further essential feature of MCBs that must be considered is breaking capacity. *Residual Current Circuit Breaker*(RCCB)/RCBO (RCCB+MCB)* Intended primarily to minimize the risk of injury from electric shock, RCCBs provide protection against residual (earth leakage) currents only, and are not sensitive to overloads or short circuits. For this reason, they must never be used as the sole protection device for a circuit. Circuits with RCCB protection must always include separate protection against overloads and short circuits. This is most often an MCB, but it could, for example, be a fuse. Like MCBs, RCCBs are available in various different types that are designated by letters. This is a potential source of confusion so it's worth remembering that a Type B MCB, is not related to a Type B RCCB. Type B RCCBs are sensitive to AC, pulsating AC and steady DC leakage currents. This type may be required for use in photovoltaic (PV) solar energy installations. For most domestic and small-scale commercial usages, however, 30 mA devices are used. Kindly make a video on neutral failure circuit breaker. It is also a good protection device because of neutral breaks then it plays havoc with appliances. I experienced it because three devices of my house had gone faculty in a series due to break of neutral from transformer. To my surprise when I enquired a reputed electrical company about such a protective device they were unaware.

Good information in simple language! Please make a video on ELCB, which is Voltage sensing but whose function is same as RCCB. Also make another video on HRC (high rupture capacity) fuses. If RCCB or ELCB does not work because of malfunction in it's electronic parts, HRC fuse will 100 % protect the user from electric shock. But common people don't know about these electrical engineering things which are very important.

Very nicely presented video on rccb and its uses. Sir how much AC voltage can be tested by a normal current tester? Or do we need a special tester for very high voltage?
