this was amazing...i've watched like 1 million times. and the choreography is perfect for her and the music.

I loved this dance. she dances with so much passion and emotion, which many dancers are unable to do.

Such incredible control WOW. This dance is exhausting, but she didn't show that at all!

This solo was from when she was much younger (15?)...I think she finished with Dance Precisions because she graduated and is likely working on a professional career.

Very interesting, it almost looks like Mia Michels choreographed it!

This past year was her first year with Dance Precisions. Before that she was with JPD for 2 years.

So, is this the same Athena that was at Dance Precisions? If so, I wonder why she switched studios. Either way, she is a great dancer and will succeed in her dance career. Best of luck Athena!!

*One more P.S. before I let this go: I'm not saying Tori Amos didn't sing this version. It sounds like her and it is *beautiful*. It's just that my first question was whether these lyrics were part of the old-tyme original...and then I answered myself by looking it up, and they're not. Pity though. I keep coming back to this vid because it's so lovely--one of my fave JPD pieces.

interesting. great technique. kind of strange style in my opinion.. all the sway backs and over-the-top stiff movements. but it suited her and she pulled it off. i like that she did the little antelope-y looking jump to fit the words of the song..hahah i was waiting for it. awesome song.

Honey, this song was first written in the *18*90s. It is NOT by Tori Amos. Do you think Kansas wouls have chosen Tori Amos as their State Song? LOL.
@DianaDeLuna17 жыл бұрын
Love the technique, but the dancer's happy face didn't match the song's extremely sad lyrics. Is that "Trail of Tears" 2nd verse part of the original song?
@DianaDeLuna17 жыл бұрын
No, sadly it's not. I looked it up. There are several versions of this, the state song of Kansas, but only one of them, from 1910, mentions native Americans at all. There are no mentions of white man's pillaging, etc. I'm disappointed, since I like the version JPD found better.

what is up with this dance studio and reveling costumes and dirty moves? every single dance i've watched from this studio has one or the other or both! my gosh! great dancers but it's kinda tacky choices in costume
