I grew up with the NES n the 80's. It is so awesome that people are still making quality homebrew games 30+ years after the fact.

Carpet Shark getting some love! Glad you enjoyed the concept of my crazy game. Been brainstorming a sequel ever since I finished the first game. Never know when that one might go into development! Great video, my dude! 🔥

Will damn, those a lot of great games on this list. I never would've thought I see this on NES. Childhood dreams coming true 😅

With the great SDK's out there that allows devs to very easily make real hardware compatible games, the NES and other consoles will live on with new software for years to come. And it's exciting to see what modern day creators can do considering we know a lot more these days vs. what the devs knew in the past in regards to making a great game. So, team might be much smaller, but the game could potentially turn out insanely good despite the hardware limits. I love to see it!

It'd be nice if more people tried to make actually horror for the nes as opposed to ol Platformers with skeletons
@BurstError10 ай бұрын
while I do love me some platformers with skeletons, I can't argue with that sentiment! I was a little surprised to not find much that was really serious/dark like Sweet Home or something.
@nighttyger339710 ай бұрын
To be fair, that’s pretty much what the “horror” offerings on the NES back in its prime were too! It takes a very skilled and creative dev to make effective horror with the limited capabilities and even moreso limited *memory* of the good ol’ 8-bit systems. I mean, it’s hard enough to make good horror on modern systems! Sweet Home is, unfortunately, an exception rather than the rule when it comes to old horror games :(

Full Quiet is one of my favs. It has great atmosphere, I really like the semi-Metroidvania aspect to it. It almost feels like a survival game in 2D. Had it been released in the 80s/early 90s, it would have become a classic. Nice list otherwise too, I will definitely check out Haunted Halloween games soon, and surely way more too!
@BurstError10 ай бұрын
totally agree! would love to make a more in depth Full Quiet video someday after I finish the game.

Oh man! I remember Artix games from all my years of playing AdventureQuest! Glad to hear their style got translated in 8-bit! Will have to check out Necronancy, reminds me of all my years being emo black and red Necros and Mages in AQ.
