You're amazing....I used to pick up old radios from the junk yard when I was a kid back in the 40's when I lived in NYC, there was a radio repair shop on Broadway which was in our building and they let me rummage through their parts cellar for tubes and parts to get the old cathedral radios working again. Boy was that fun! We moved to Florida and I continued fooling around with old radios, became a licensed ham and then got my commercial licenses and after leaving the military worked in commercial radio & TV until I retired. Your videos take me back to those wonder years of old timey radio & I have a collection of old radio programs (OTR). Walt in Miami

I am always mesmerized by your intelligence, talent, genius, and inventive spirit! You were the first one I ever encountered who actually showed how to make vacuum tubes, and then you did it! And all your restoration and repair videos over the years have been so instructive and even "edge of the seat" interesting... and now there is this one. Thank you! Live long and prosper!

You have got to be one of the smartest people I know! Love the videos you work so hard to produce! I was blown away the day you needed a radio tube that was out of production for about 100 years so you made one right on that video! That’s really brilliant! Thank you for taking so much of your time to educate the rest of us on how some of these radios work. I like the blue dress you were wearing in this video but I really think the red dress from the fixing the 1949 television set a few years ago was your best! Be who you are and god bless!

Ron, nice radio using the old Atwater Kent parts you had saved! The variometer reminds me of the book by H. P. Friedrichs ("The Voice of the Crystal") where he covers building one at home to experiment with, along with _all_ other parts needed to build a crystal radio. Now I need to re-read his "Instruments of Amplification" book to see how he builds, among other components, primitive vacuum tubes & (point-contact) transistors, all to eventually build a working (& powered) radio set. I have no clue how well the components from either book will work, but I suppose that simply depends on the care I take plus experimentation to see what works the best in a relatively primitive radio set. Your videos are an encouragement to go ahead and "play" with building my own components and, hopefully, one or more working radios! ;)
