I bought one of these for my son who's had a kidney transplant (the larger one) and I have another who's been in lockdown going stir crazy that doesn't live with us but has pet allergies. I have a dog and his girlfriend has a cat, yesterday was the first time he visited us since I bought this machine it was also the first time he didn't go into a sneezing fit, get a blocked nose or watery eyes and I am amazed at the difference I've seen so I've just bought another one for him. I still have to go to work and the last thing I want to do is bring bugs home. I you tubed uv light technology and some countries are cleaning their hospitals with it. I know there are no guarantees in life but this machine has not just made a real difference in the air quality to my home it's given me a bit of peace of mind too. I have been recommending this machine to everyone one I know already.

Hi Ann, the best technology is a TAC V+ with HEPA 14 filter and HEPA 7 Pre-filter, it kills covid and nearly all other airbourne viruses by using the air you breathe, with up to 20 (APH) air changes per hour, the WHO recommend 6-10 (APH) to kill covid, it works by filtration and kills everything down to 0.1 microns, covid operates at 0.12 - 0.16 microns, it is not cheap but is the best as UV light produces carcinogens, and the EPA warn against this, here is our video vimeo.com/508980825, let me know your thoughts

The medium and the larger sizes use the True Hepa Filter, just the small size doesn’t, but Hepa type. Are you satisfied after 7 months of use? Have you noticed an improvement on your breath or in removing dust, allergies, Mold in the house?

"Hepa-type" means *not Hepa.* Already clear that Homedics is not an honest company by playing with words like that.

theyre not honest, they also say it has a cadr rating of ~600, but what they dont tell you is that this is the SUM of CADR rating on 3 types of particale, smoke, pollen and dust. each of those have a cadr of 200 with this thing, together 600 cadr, thats not how it works so in fact this thing has a CADR of 200 and is NOT suitable for a room the size of 80m2 but rather ~28m2, very misleading.

I bought one last month it works great but it says to clean the filter use a vacuum hose with a brush but can you just use the vacuum hose without the brush?

An ionizer shoots out positives and negatives that attach to floating dust making them heavier which results to them either falling to the ground or getting sucked in the machine. If it gets sucked in, it would zap. After using the ionizer for awhile, you will notice more dust on surfaces because it made the particles that you can not normally see, more dense. If you do not see dust laying around, it may not be working. It most likely works though.

Hi, thanks for this video so I can see how it's supposed to work. I took mine out of the box, switched it on and after a little while the UV light turned red. According to the manual, that's the indicator the UV light needs replacing. Yet I turned it on the following day, and the UV light now is blue. Has this happened to you? Shall i request it to be exchanged? Or it's normal? Thank you.

I am very disappointed in mine. It's on high, all of the additional buttons are on. After 3 days, I can still smell old laundry, kitchen smells. In fact aside from the lights and noise, I would have no idea it was working. I'm sending it back unless it suddenly starts cleaning up the area.

The noise level depends on the 1-3 settings with how hard you want the machine to work. You can also upgrade the filters and get one better for pet hair and smells which is a must have in my home. I noticed the air seemed lighter and easier to breathe when running the machine for the first time. Works great every time. Highly recommended!

Honestly, I was being unfair, as I was going by other brands that can ionise without ozone these days, and I wrongly presumed the homedics would use the same brush technique. That said, it's probably a miniscule amount, and there is so much bad info about the so called harmful effects of ozone out there that it's quite frankly ridiculous. Sure, dedicated ozone generators are dangerous and you have to leave the room. Different thing. Air purifiers in 2020, even the ones using old school ionisation, create less than the 0.05 PPM which is completely and utterly safe, and anything said to the contrary is just plain wrong.
