I’m 65 yrs old now. I was brought up with the 50’ 60’70’80’ music mainly. But in my younger years I played the violin which I wish I kept up now regret it. My hands, wrist and elbow on my left side has problems to much to play a violin nowadays. So, I grew to like string music too. Then my father and an uncle introduced Big Band music. Then to my delight my son learned to play the trumpet. He was very good even won The John Phillip Sousa Award (not sure of spelling). So I grew to love jazz too. Then one day about 9 months ago I came across Geoff Castellucci’s music. I liked his voice very much so I set it as station in Pandora. Well on that station they had The Wellerman’s music. Now I love to listen to this station while I read. It’s very entertaining and enlightening. These shanty songs really give you a lift on bad days. Thank you Gentlemen for your music.

Not to diminish their voices since being impressed by singing is a baseline for groups like this, but the editing and logistics behind that video were absolutely stellar. They combined some of the most popular sea shanties into one Medley. Beginning a new song was seamless and introduced a different person of the cast as the main singer. At the beginning, they edited together the screens appearing according to the beats.

Awesome rendition of these traditional sailing songs (not just pirates!) - they were the best possible rendition of what these songs truly are - songs designed to get everyone working in synchronization, and providing energy and a sense of community when the work was hard. HF's commitment to the low masculine range (TIM just hanging in the basement where virtually no one else can actually sing) and driving beat (ADAM - the castanets and the sound of the wind is incredibly authentic - wow). My father is a Coastguardsman, and sailed on the clipper ship the Eagle. I grew up with these songs, but have never heard them better. Outstanding! The vocals were on point, the song choices excellent and Adam continues to up his beatboxing game with every new release. Just when I think he can't get any better, he does. I actually loved all the costumes. Chance and Rob = longshoremen, Austin and Adam = swashbucklers and Tim = full on Captain Jack Sparrow. Marvelous!

Shortly after discovering that sea shanties calmed my newborn (we're pretty sure he was a sailor in a previous life lol), we asked Alexa to play sea shanties and she played this song. Since then, this has been our default lullaby for our baby, which works like a charm 9 times out of 10. Thankfully we love this medley too, but the peaceful baby is a nice perk. Do you have any sailors in the family? Some cultures believe, that souls can only move between bodies, that are blood-related, meaning that you can only be reborn within your own family. Therefore most people couldn't have been Cleopatra in a former life 😉 It's also the reason why children aren't punished in some cases, because people assume, that these are reborn ancestors, and you simply don't slap your granny for misbehaving. If there's a sailor among the baby's (dead) ancestors, you may even find out the name of the shanty fan and could compare some behavioural traits when the baby grows up. Oh, and some people think, that children remember details of their former lives until they turn 4 or 5 years old. At that point the new personality takes over and erases the soul's memories, that are not connected to the new body. But children between 1-4 years might say spooky things, because they still have access to the immortal (soul) part of the memory. Like that little girl, who told her mother, "Before I was born, we were together, but I was your mother back then."

What I really liked was that they all sang low in their registers.None of the high falsetto from Austin or soaring runs from Rob. Just rock solid low harmonies with Adam's driving beat setting the tempo and then the amazing "castenets" in the Santiana section.
