Thanks Dan! I just got two Original Hydrangeas and put them in pots. Will be feeding them and hope they survive the harsh winters here in the midwest USA😁

The watering the flowers thing is true, when I worked for a florist we soaked the whole stem and flower head before using in arrangements and always recut the stem anytime it was out of water or moistened foam even for a few seconds.

Hi. Absolutely love your videos! I've just moved and Hydrangeas were one of the most first plants I bought. I got three. They are only very small but need repotting. I potted them together in a large pot, they look amazing but I'm worried as all the leaves of each plant are touching. I'm not sure how much they will grow. Would I be better off planting them separately? They will be staying in pots.. Thanks so much x Take care and stay safe ♥️
@homegardens76824 жыл бұрын
Hi Joanne. It will be best to plant them in seperate pots as eventually the roots will intertwine. You may get away with it short term but I would definitely put them in individual pots as soon as you can.

Thanks so much. I'll sort that out very soon.. Really appreciate your help 😁 x

Hi. Sorry to message you again. Please don't feel that you need to reply straight away.. Although I have some Miracle grow fertiliser in, I was interested by your mention of liquid seaweed. I've been looking it up but was confused when one brand mentioned spraying it on the leaves and stem. So I was wondering if this is correct? Take care & stay safe ♥️ xx

Thanks for the detail explanation. I just bought a pot of young propagated hydrangea and I dunno where to place it. My backyard barely have any spot that is half shaded. Can I put them in the alfresco where there is only a few hours of sunlight?
@homegardens76823 жыл бұрын
Hydrangeas like morning sun and afternoon shade. I say to people make the best with what you have got. An alfresco is a roof but otherwise outdoors isn't it?

Hi Dan my young Hydrangeas are really leggy and had hardly any flowers. I didn't feed them regularly enough I think. What should I do now to sort them out? Kate
@homegardens76825 жыл бұрын
Hi Kate. They like morning Sun and afternoon shade. Ideally getting Sun equally from all sides, I know this is not always possible. In late Winter you could cut the plant stems down to a strong looking bud and stems so the plant can regrow stronger. Feed it now with a balanced fertiliser then again later Spring. Feed about once a month throughout the growing season. Good luck! Let me know how you get on.

My endless summer hydrangeas are planted in large wooden half barrels. The stems and leaves became extremely overgrown with no blooms this year. Now they have these ridiculous overgrown leafy stems spawling outward about 4 ft. What should i do?? There are large green nodes along these stems, will they become blooms next year?
@homegardens76824 жыл бұрын
Its likely they will flower next year as many Hydrangeas flower on old wood.

hi Dan when is the best time to prune a hydrangea and how far can you prune them back?
@homegardens76825 жыл бұрын
Hi Andrew. I normally wait until Late Winter/early Spring then cut them down to the bud about the height I want the plant to be.
@andrewmarriott93315 жыл бұрын
@@homegardens7682 great then that is what I will do as I've been looking on KZbin and they say if its this type cut it right back or if its that type just cut the dead heads off but as I got my hydrangea as a end of season bargain (2017) and the thing was half dead and no label so I just left it to do its own thing (turned into a triffid) it need a hair cut keep up with the great videos
@homegardens76825 жыл бұрын
Will do. Keep the dead flower hears on until you prune it to protect the buds. Enjoy!

Hi dan, I’ve just bought a “runaway bride” hydrangea, it’s in shade all day, is this ok? And what should I be feeding this type of hydrangea 💐
@My_slow_story4 жыл бұрын
I have Runnaway growing in full sun in Scotland, perhaps down south it would be better in part-shade. Normal regular feed like any other flowering plants; I use blood bone meal and tomato feed.

Home Gardens it has morning sun until about mid day then it’s in the shade. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻 it will thrive with all your advice. Thank you.
