Serious question has anyone seen any Kwanza decorations while Holiday shopping this year at the major chain stores? I ask this because I haven’t. I know the Kwanza displays aren’t big but I just love the creativity during the holiday season of the merchandise on sale. In years past I remember seeing Hanukkah, Kwanza, Feliz Navidad and even I believe Ramadan(when it fell close to Christmas) decorations on sale and I loved all of it. It’s just kind of sad that there doesn’t seem to be any merchandise on display celebrating a major African American holiday.

You may have to go to a specialty shop. Some people are boycotting some of these stores because of them eliminating their DEI departments . I know that Wal-Mart and a bunch of other major brands are being boycotted.

@@EmprezzWakanda1962I know about the boycott and I understand it but holiday (I’m including Halloween and Thanksgiving) decor has been out since September. Christmas and Hanukkah decorations were probably sitting in storage since this summer. Yet all of this had to be designed and manufactured which probably started around late last year or early this year. So that was before people were aware of the stores getting rid of the DEI departments. So to have nothing as far as I’ve seen on the shelves mean they either didn’t have people to design new Kwanza merchandise or manufacture it. That just saddens me especially since this year the Christmas, Hanukkah, Chinese New Year and Valentine decorations have been on point. I just wish Kwanza decorations could have been included.

Kwanzaa isn't a major African American holiday. It is a made up holiday by a black supremacist in 1960s that ironically hated the Black Panther Party. The creator was a felon who tortured Black Panther opponents and imprisoned black women, of which he was convicted for in the 70s. He thought Christianity was a "white religion" (despite Christianity originating from middle-east) and created Kwanzaa out of an amalgamation of African values.
