I made my own field reloading kit but I use an old hand held deprimer/primer and modify it to fit whichever gauge I'm using t the time. I also have punches that I made before I found the primer and used them on a piece of ash with holes drilled in it. I use mine with brass cases, wads, shot cards and black powder. Black powder is better for this type of situation because you basically can not over load it to where it will be catastrauphic. An ounce of powder and an ounce of shot is what I use for 12 gauge and 3/4 of each for 20 and 1/2 for .410. I use over shot cards and seal with wax or hot glue. For simplicity and easy of aquisition, I use regular old BBs as shot and slugs made from wheel wieghts poured into the ends of sockets that I plug with extensions. They work well enough out to around 60 yards. I also have .72 & .62 cal. pumpkin ball and 000 buck moulds that I use to make shot with in my off time. I also have a breechplug adapter that allows me to use my 12 gauge as a muzzle loader using .22 starter pistol blanks that I machined because 209 primers are so difficult to find and expensive. I sometimes reload the 209s with PrimeAll and use the original 209 adapter for my 12 gauge but using .22 blanks is much easier and economical.

Been wanting to build my own .410 set up myself. What size pipe nipple did you go with for the MEC sizing ring to thread onto?
@drunkenhillbilly4564 жыл бұрын
The pipe is just a gas line pipe, that I paid to have threaded to match the MEC sizing die. Side note, once you have the pipe threaded, you can load all of the gauges with the same kit. The block is made from left over cutting board material. And the pins are made from scrap pick up. You could use a big bolt or anything already long and round.

@@williamstaggjr8432 I used a piece of formica and just took the 410 hull and used a pencil to do the diameter of the holes.

I would like to know where your block came from.
@drunkenhillbilly4562 жыл бұрын
I made it from a scrap piece of cutting board material. A friend of mine used to work at a place that made cutting boards and kitchen supplies. But honestly, an end of a 2x6 would work just fine.

If i used A0 powder how many grams of powder to 14 grams lead wirh martinioli 686 primer
@drunkenhillbilly456 Жыл бұрын
I'm not familiar with that powder. I would either email the manufacturer of the powder or do some research on the net. There are a lot of 410 reloading pages on FB also.
@drunkenhillbilly456 Жыл бұрын
After doing some research, NobelSport VECTAN A0 powder can not be used for 410. It's designed for 12 & 20 gauge shotgun. For reference when reloading 410, you can use most of the powders designed for 30 caliber carbine.
