Homemade all-natural dishwashing detergent is a simple DIY that can be whipped up in less than 2 minutes. This recipe uses a few simple ingredients and costs way less than most of the natural options you find in stores and actually works.
I’ve definitely bought “natural” cleaners and detergents before that didn’t actually do the job. Mama is busy. Mama doesn’t want to wash her dishes before she washes her dishes. Ya feel me?
That’s why I like this recipe. I’ve tried several, and this one actually cleans your dishes without leaving streaks and stuck-on food.
Now, that’s doesn’t mean that you can leave a casserole dish “soaking” in the sink for a couple of days, then let it dry out with all the crusty bits still on, then stick it in the dishwasher and think that this powder is going to do the job that you should’ve done when you left it in the sink 2 days ago…or so I’ve heard.
I’d never leave a dirty dish in the sink that long.
Gross…..
Now that we've gotten that out of the way...

Yes you can add lemon, it works like vinegar/rinsing agent for glassware. I don't know about the consistency though, as this one seems to be like a powder version. In many other recipes you'll find there's lemon, but some in tablet form

I don't get it. Grease has fatty Acids. They breaker doen when using either Baking soda or vinagar. But when using both and acid (either cítric acid or vinegar) and an alkaline (Baking soda), Will they not just react with each other and loose their effectiveness alltogether??? Is it more the warm Water of teh dishwasher itself that does most of the work of removing Grease and stains? If using this Kind of natural dish Washington soap for hand washing, isnt the main purpose to just remover grease? Because Water and scrubbing Will get rid of most of the stains and food. Would using only vinegar with lemon oil work? Vinegar to remover grease aided with warm Water, it also work to disinfectants a little, plus the scrubbing and warm Water, and the oíl just for scent. Wouldn't that work just as well with much less ingredients? Any thoughts are welcome from more experienced natural life seekers. Thank you

Hello, I made dishwash powder exactly like you told , it seems that dishes washing ok, just the table knifes and spoons are with some kind " Milkish coat" . I was them with hot water and then they are shiny again... Why is that happening, does the powder reacts with steel?

I haven't personally, but I've read some troubleshooting suggestions.....Try adding white vinegar as the rinse aid. I also read that running a self cleaning cycle on the washer itself, as well as cleaning the food trap in the bottom can help.

Our dishwasher has two places for detergent. One is behind a little door that apparently opens up during a second cycle and the other is just open so that it dumps it in when you close the door. Do you put the tablespoon of detergent in both of those?

Hi Daniel, I haven't had this issue myself, but I have been researching possible causes and the advice given by many is that the machine itself might need a deep clean to decrease limescale build-up. Also, if you have soft water you may want to run a cycle every once in a while with an eco-friendly cleaning tab to prevent future build-up.

@@homegrownhopes I'll try the vinegar then 😍 thank you for the advice!! I never read the labels of content on cosmetics in the past until I learnt about all my allergies. The next time I was in the shop and started to read I realised that the majority of cosmetics contain citric acid!!!! Even many natural products. Allergies are annoying 😂🤣😂🤣😂 but they changed my life for the better because I'm avoiding a lot of things that aren't healthy. For housework I use only vinegar and bicarbonate soda anymore and it's fantastic 👍 The reason why I was looking for videos like yours is that my allergies are getting worse with age therefore I have to start to make from scratch everything that touches my body.
