I will have to say that you built a super sweet boat. You have inspired me to build my own. I like the idea of building it the way you want it and have the opportunity to build it the way you want it. It there a certain place you got certain items for the boat, like the outside top railing and the decorative inside bump railing.

I love that you have your son out there with you. My only concern is his health. If I could suggest, if you have time, please read an MSDS on aluminum. I contracted leukemia from welding on these alloys. Wear a respirator when grinding and welding aluminum.

What size angle did you use on the bottom?

1 inch for the strakes or whatever you want to call them. They can bend them into the hull if you want them to. I think I would get them to do that the next time if I did it again.

Man that’s a sharp looking hull. When you bought the hull with the sides already done, how did you order it prefabbed?

It all depends on what size and alloy you get. They come in all different thicknesses and lengths. 4x8 5x10 8x20 are common sizes with considerable price differences.

How much was the aluminum kit from pierce?

They don’t sell a kit. You just have to call and order what you need. The cost will vary depending on how much aluminum you order. To my knowledge you can’t just ask for a kit and they send you everything. BUT, frank at the Broussard location is a gem to work with and he can set you up with exactly what you need.

@@stevencarterbjj plan for between 6-10 depending on how intense you want it to be for just the metal. Don’t forget all the consumables and little things like latches and hinges add up pretty quick. Good luck with your build, it’s way better than buying one!
