If you’re interested go and visit Madeline’s seed website. Brown Envelope Seeds is brilliant and one of very few Irish seed-saving enterprises... www.brownenvelopeseeds.com/
These foodwrap sheets smell beautiful - and they work. One day they’ll be for sale on our website or on Madeline’s - but until then you’ll just have to make your own. Don’t boil the wax - just get it really hot so it’s thin enough to really saturate your cloth. And use lightweight material (cotton, fine linen, silk, etc.) - and make sure it’s clean before you start, obviously. Have fun!
Ok, here are some important website links. Please check them out..
Here's Tim's amazing guitar machine..

here's our online store where you can see some of the craft things we make and sell..

My favourite thing to make with beeswax is body balm. You can use it for everything from chapped lips to baby's nappy rash or just as a moisturiser. Three ingredients, beeswax, macadamia oil, coconut oil.

Great idea. Possibilities are endless! Sew up a mini 'pillow case' with a zip or a tuckable flap and wax that and you've got a sandwich bag etc. Presumably you can wash these in cool water and reuse? Love your channel!

What a great idea! Thanks so much for the demo. I live in London and don't keep bees, but I will tell my beekeeper friend about this, and wangle some wax from her hopefully! :-)

What a wonderful idea! I hate cling film and am trying to avoid using tin foil, so I'm going to have a go at making some of these myself. I wonder if I can use my husband's old shirts (well washed of course) instead of buying new fabric... hmm.
@louiseburgess1624
@louiseburgess1624 5 жыл бұрын
Sorry to hijack your post but just to say, I have found that men's old shirts are the best things to use. Preferably a pattern as plain fabrics (especially white) aren't quite so nice to use, but they do the job! Recycling fabrics is definitely the way to go...

Great product! If you come up with a great freezer wrap, please let us know. I currently wrap food in a cloth or wax paper envelope and then into a plastic sealable bag. My logic is to keep the food away from the plastic, and the plastic keeps the air away from the food. My only quandary is that, as far as I can research, wax paper is made from paraffin wax, which is made from petroleum. :-( How well do your waxed clothes clean up after a sloppy sandwich like a egg salad or the squashed banana I usually find at the bottom of my purse? xoxo

Tim, do they survive being refrigerated without shattering the wax between threads? We know how terribly brittle cold comb can be..maybe the wax is more flexible with the addition of coconut oil?? Something I must try!
@WayOutWestx2
@WayOutWestx2 7 жыл бұрын
Yes, they do. No problem. The oil seems to work really well. Not sure about a freezer though..
@icarus901
@icarus901 7 жыл бұрын
Reporting back (now that I've made my own): when really cold in the freezer, it does get a bit crackly unless all excess wax dripped out of the fabric before setting. I've found that increasing the coconut oil ratio makes it more freezer tolerant, but it doesn't stick to itself as well.
@WayOutWestx2
@WayOutWestx2 7 жыл бұрын
Good work! So have you decided what ratio would be the best compromise?
@icarus901
@icarus901 7 жыл бұрын
Not yet, but leaning toward oil > 10% by mass. Seems the fabric threadcount is nearly as important as the ratio. The level of refinement in the wax also affects the outcome, too..

if you dont cut them with the wrinkled sciccors do they fray? like on the unct crinkled sides also?
@madsmckeever
@madsmckeever 7 жыл бұрын
I don't think they would fray if they were cut with an ordinary scissors, because the wax would stop the fraying.
