Awesome job. If you ever do a version 2.0. I have a suggestion. Make it so the bowl can screw on. That way you could put different bowls size on it.

OK nice peace pipe there is nothing that beats the feeling of smoking you own pipe and contents with a home brew sitting on the veranda (JJ Cale) The good life cheers from oz.

Very well done. As a machinist I can say it is very impressive what you were able to accomplish with such limited tools. Drilling the long hole in the brass for the stem would be finicky done in a lathe. I'm amazed you were able to do it in a drill press and keep the hole straight. Very well done. 👏

There's a trick I read. Chuck the stock in the drill then tighten it in the vice. Then put bit in.

Hell yeah that's good I like the lathe type work with the drill press saves from having to buy a huge lathe

Nice job nearly sorry to use it but things are maked to be used a pipe that hold for life because it made of metal But doesnt it been warm to hold? make more i guess many are willing to give some money for that such of pipe :)
@matsudaindustries25305 жыл бұрын
Thanks buddy! Hope it will last a lifetime; it does get a little warm after use, but not more than a traditional pipe ( metal conducts better heat than wood does, but since it has more mass it needs more energy to heat up )

I'm wanting to use brass for some of my pipe designs but have scoured fhe internet with no avail to find where to get 100% pure brass for smoking from. The best thing I have now is LF (lead free) brass for plumbing with a content of 0.25% or less of lead. Where do you get your brass and what type do you use/ is safe to use? Many thanks! -Kai

Hello, depending on where you live you can find it even on Amazon, if not, it's pretty tricky to find brass in general, but nowadays with a bit of research you can find it somewhere online (not cheaply in most cases ) Luckily where I live I did find it in an actual industrial metal shop, so you if you as well live in a big city you might as well get your hands in one of them. I was also wondering what clean brass for smoking is called? I know that not all stainless steel is safe, but that 304 stainless steal is safe.

Hey, about how much did this cost? (the brass not the tools)
@matsudaindustries25304 жыл бұрын
I bought a meter long of brass stock of each diameter, if i remember correctly i paid 25€ for the big one and about 10€ for the smaller one. The amount used in the video was probably around 3-4€ worth of brass

How long did it take you to file the bowl into that round shape?
@matsudaindustries25302 жыл бұрын
Not much, brass is very soft and the file cuts it quite easily into it. I'd say between 10 minutes for a rough finish and 20-30 minutes for the polished one
