Homemade cannon made from 3/4 inch pipe and some scrap metal. I have no idea what’s in the black powder, my little brother made it. The second batch was improved a little from the first, as you can see.

We used to make hand held marble cannons when we were kids back in the 70's. 8" x 3/4" galvanized nipple, 3/4" cap drilled for a fuse, regular marble, some tissue wadding and Black Cat firecrackers.. I'd say they were pretty close to being lethal.. The 3/4" nipple would need the inside diameter filed with a rat tail file to remove the casting line. We could put a perfect 1/2" marble dent in 5/8" plywood from 20 feet away..

It’s lways good to shoot a cannon close to a wooden building and at your dads ride. Just saying. Great cannon, great vlog, thanks for posting and sharing. Just a note, get a wooden dowel to tamp the powder, then put in your projectile with packing, then ignite and leave the scene. AIM IN SAFE DIRECTION!

That’s actually my ride... and the last time we shot it the projectile only went 10 feet. Not really sure what was different this time! Thanks for watching and commenting!

Instead of black powder, do you think rubbing alcohol, gasoline or some deodorant/hairspray spraying could work too?
@OwensGarage2 жыл бұрын
I think it would if there was a bigger chamber to fill with it. I don’t think I could get enough volume of it in 3/4inch pipe to work well. If I connected a bigger chamber to the back of the cannon then I do think it would work well with the right air/fuel mixture.

it wouldn't cause an explosion but just fire and fire only so it won't propel the thing, I recommend you use match powder if you don't have black powder

But no firing results bro

Congratulations! You just in a few hours, did what the first people did in likely a week at least. (The congratulations was not sarcastic.) However, you were smart to keep away from the device. Probably should when firing in the future. The tube and 'breech' attachment has held so far, but may weaken and fail in the future. To improve performance, use a projectile that seals the bore better. That will put more of the propulsive power of the gunpowder to work on the projectile. It will also generate more pressure in the tube, so beware. That tube is smooth bore, so the projectile will have more freedom to depart from the intended trajectory. Better to shoot it in an open field with no cars, cows, sows, or pets running about. Or your little sister. You did make it work. Thumbs up and be careful.

If ur still alive not sure u should be messing with these types of things! Just by looking where u drilled a hole for the fuse (sparkler) to go tells me that u may not understand everything that’s happening here and that if u continue to wander down the unknown road it could result in a catastrophic failure. Hopefully u wised up or got ur head wrapped around it first before anything happened
