Homemade circle jig for plasma oxy cutter invention tool
I decided to build me a homemade tool invention which is a quick circle jig for my Powermax45 plasma and oxy cutter. I am cutting out some lids for some small BBQ grills as a test. The circle jig invention tool works great when doing lots of cuts as it holds the size once the nuts is tightened up. This invention seems to do the proper job and will be added to my tool box of homemade tools The Circle Jig tool could also work with a oxy cutting torch with minimal modification. This invention / tool is something to add to my Plasma Cutter tips and tricks. The circle jig tool can be made for under $14.
$5 Magnet'
$3 All Thread 1/2"
$4 Hex nuts 3pc
$1 Bolt, Washer and Nut
Have fun and be safe.
I could not find the exact model of magnet but here are some similar ones that could work.

Here is a quick video I did today on a circle jig. I always wanted to build one and decided to attempt a simple adjustable jig. Total price in parts under $14.

Thank you. You have made a very good circle jig. When the weather gets a bit warmer here I'm going to make one for myself. It looks to be the easiest circle jig to make that doesn't leave a hole.

@cutweldngrind

@stihlpancakes661

Im guessing your tacks are with fluxcore, due to no gas nozzle. Are you able to run a bead without the nozzle? I can see that saving some money in a pinch.

What size threaded rod did you use 3/8? Nice set up going to build one!
@cutweldngrind
@cutweldngrind 3 жыл бұрын
I used 1/2" threaded rod because I had some 1/2" nuts in the tool box that would work for this application. My plasma cutter torch has a ceramic head so I did not put screws to hold torch tight onto pipe I used. So if you want to get better results try adding screws to hold plasma torch in place.

I made this at work, while watching your video. Everything worked fine till I turned on the plasma cutter. The pipe head caught some slag and the magnet moved off center. So question what is the magnets strength? I'm using a 95lbs magnet.
@cutweldngrind
@cutweldngrind 3 жыл бұрын
I think my magnet is also rated at 95lbs. I haven't had issues with my magnet moving and have done 6 circle cutouts only. I haven't worked on projects after getting sick but might use it again with the new plasma cutter that I will give away.
@markchamberlin7554

@@cutweldngrind i upgraded my all thread to 1/2, also a bigger magnet but with the same amount lbs rating. One last thing and perhaps I didn't catch it during the video, I raised the cup off the table and now only my plasma head touches the metal. everything works great. Thank you.

Is that a drag tip or pilot arc
@cutweldngrind
@cutweldngrind Жыл бұрын
The powermax45 is a pilot arc plasma cutter. The shield on it are made for drag cutting from what I was told years ago. I also have shields for gouging which I don't recall if I ever tried it. I haven't really done much in the past 3 months with any or my cutters.
