Bro, 100% mad. Suggestion is to get rid of that riffled pipe, they cause headaches. $30 from Bunnings you can buy a smooth bore kit.

Thankyou Chris we really appreciate your comment. We walked around Bunnings trying to find the right hose but had no luck, having to deal with imperial measurements in a land of metric measurements is painful sometimes, LOL. Cheers from gold country in Northern California. This is great! Super lightweight, cost effective and it works. I did something similar but I 3D printed the whole thing. I hated pumping into the bucket and having to tote the bucket around. I also used the flotation noodles for buoyancy. I originally used a corrugated hose. I switched to a smooth hose and maintenance/clog issues were greatly reduced. Great job! Thanks for posting.

G'day Alicia & Steve. Love your design, straight forward in its approach with a good layout. To be honest I was expecting it to go arse over once the pan at the end filled up with waste. I'm guessing that for most of us, we would have to wait till the end of summer to be able to steal the kids pool noodles and get away with it 😆😆. If you can replace your existing hose with an internally smooth hose you'll find its easier to work with because you'll obtain higher suction pressure and water velocity with less pumping effort simply because an internally Smooth hose has about 30% less restriction to flow than an internally Corrugated hose. It's the same with airflow through corrugated duct versus smooth duct, pipe or tube. Thank-you for another top original video 👍.
@GrotyGold5 жыл бұрын
Thankyou Tim, Steve was lucky I had a few spare, LOL. We thought the pan at the end would make her sink but surprisingly that ring of noodle holds it up. Hi Alicia & Steve. I love the floating sluice, great & practice design ! Any type of corrugated pipe - even rigid tube or air-conditioning duct - is 30% harder to pump things thru, because the corrugations add resistance to the flow, so if you changed your hose over to a smooth sided one you'll pump easier and faster, and probably have greater suction pressure to pick up what's on the creek bed. Was wondering if you fitted like a Cake Cooling Rack over your tailings pan at an angle, the larger gravel would slide off, leaving only the smaller gravel & dirt to enter the pan. Rather than using printed plastic tube, surely there would be a piece of plumbing pipe in the right size to replace it ? Loved the video, great results from only 30 minutes pumping. 👍
@GrotyGold5 жыл бұрын
We have been trying to get smooth hose but everything we find is in metric but the pump is imperial, we might need to look a little harder. Like the cooling rack idea, reckon it would work well. Cheers
@timareskog24185 жыл бұрын
If the current hose connection was replaced with a "screwed barbed fitting", a hose could be held on to the barbed end with a hose clamp ( like a cars radiator hose being secured to the radiator ) and the other end screwed or fitted to your existing pipe work. I'm wondering if a piece of canvas fire hose could replace the corrugated hose - that would be easy to screw clamp onto a barbed fitting.
