Very good to know these simple formulas, especially if using for diesel fuel. number one you don't want to foul your fuel pump nor cause any internal wear, but also keeping your injector tips as clean as possible for as long as possible is the trick to engine longevity. New standards for today's fuels remove too much sulfur from the diesel, causing fuel pumps in older diesels to wear out too soon, so formulating the fuel to the age of ones engine is important. Thanks for another good one, Alek. If you wrote a book I'd sure buy it.

Hi, there could be many factors, the first one is the actual distilled oil is a product of pyrolysis not a continuous distillation, so more oxidized at the start, was not settled for a few days, also you may need to settle it longer after acid reaction, plus try to reduce acid amount to 0.5%, and try to use a washing soda instead of baking one - (sodium Carbonate 10% water solution to make 10% of volume in relation to treated oil).

You mentioned it can be used as is at the start but looking at the solids that came out of it that would be a bad idea

the acid will produce some sort of asid bitumen even from clear hydrocarbon, so if it is transparent but dark, the dencity is resemble the diesel fuel, no copper stripe reaction and smell is not a factor, then it can be used as is after simple silica gel settling.

You're great Sir! God bless you. Can I ask you if I can do this bleaching method for my waste motor oil but it is not distilled oil, it is a centrifuged oil product of centrifugation process. I don't do distillation process of cleaning waste oil. I am just cleaning my waste oil through centrifuge machine. The centrifuged oil is black, I want to bleach it to make it a little bit transparent. I saw this video and I want to try it also. I am not sure if I can do the same process with the centrifuge oil,not distilled oil. Thank you.

First, a modern engine will not be able to digest black diesel. Some old stationery ones will give no hack about the fuel type or quality. Second, any fine-filtered used motor oil is still packed with unburnable additives that are not so great for a fuel system. The benefit of this process is - the vehicle's engine works the same as with the standard diesel fuel, with no smoke, no coked injectors, and no busted fuel pump. Also, there is no need for a double fuel tank system to switch from one fuel to another to flush the pump and injectors before stopping or starting the engine. In other words - one can make regular diesel fuel in a backyard

You need to neutralize sufuric acid by sodium hydroxide solution, then to wash with water-ethanol solution to remove sulfonic acid (sodium sulfonate salt) produced by the process

Yes, you have to neutralize it, in my case I do baking soda instead, it is alkali but not so aggressive as hydroxide, after that, you still need to use a bit of absorbent and if doubtful, run the copper strip test and check the PH.
