Homemade Hollowing Tools (save over $110!)

Making 2 hollowing tools for less than $25. After using these I feel very confident adding them to my first choice of tools for hollowing.

I made a little right angle scraper using an Allen key years ago. Tool works great but I think I am more proud of the handle I turned for it.

I have since making these bought a set of high end hollowing tools at a garage sale I like the ones I made better. Smoother cut. This isn’t my idea got it from Captin’ Eddie who mgot it from someone else. Really nothing new under the sun. Just different names. Enjoy turning, always try to take it to another level. My wife is my art director.

That's cool, thank you. Do you think you would need vice grips if you used a rod that was flat on one side?

I have an easy wood hollowing tool that is flat doesn’t need vise grips. But that being said I like the one I made better cuts cleaner and the vise grips gives you a lot of control. Have fun!
