A simple inexpensive way to get some more protein.
2 cans of garbanzo beans (I could have saved by making my own, but I didn't) .89 x 2
2 tablespoons of Tahini paste - .25
Fresh juice of two lemons - .50
1/4 cup of olive oil - .50
Sea Salt, and garlic to taste. (My children prefer the milder taste of the garlic powder, but the traditional recipe will have whole garlic cloves)
This made a double batch of hummus, and at the store, it would be $7-8 bucks. Ours was under $3. Also, most processed hummus has canola, or soybean oil in it, which we avoid. Homemade is where it's at, peeps. :)
