I thought of putting some blueberries in there but wanted to keep the recipe super simple. I think that the Thrive Life berries will be awesome. Because they are freeze dried, they will rehydrate and stay nice and big- not mushy. I'll be giving that a go asap ;)

Yummy! When I was a child our machine was hand crank. We made the ice cream outside and we would take turns sitting (folded towels on top) on the machine while someone cranked the handle. We used rock salt. Good memories.

Very good memories, we did the same thing growing up.. Just doesn't taste the sane, when its put in a dish. And, I make it for my whole family and wI like to make it as healthy as I can, fir everyone. Using whole milk isvyummy and you never need whipping cream. Think healthy! Its so darn good, good without the bad stuff Take care

If you make much ice cream, re-use the brine if you have a freezer to store it. Brine straight from the freezer makes better icecream because it freezes the mix faster thus creating smaller ice crystals. I used this method for years until my wife got me an ice cream machine with its own freezer unit. Phil

What a great memory you triggered! When I was little we had a hand crank ice cream bucket machine. We bought ice from the ice house in blocks chipped it with an ice pick. Using rock salt and places a couple of folded towels on top to hold in the cold. The kids took turns one sitting on top and the other turning the crank. My mom always made fresh peach ice cream. Margaret Mitchell You can reduce the sweetness by loads when you DIY your own Ice-Cream; not to mention if you add fresh (or freeze-dried) Fruit, (being careful of the carbs but, well you HAVE to have a treat now & again, Don't you?) You can get 1 of your 5 a day in too! So you can enjoy a bowl of happy knowing it's also a bowl of healthy. Pretty good result eh? 😂 P.S. I would avoid the Cream + Condensed Milk Insta-Ice-Cream though, there's too, too much Sugar in there.

If you want something more easy, Whip up some heavy cream in your mixer and of you reach stuff peaks You add a whole can of sweetend condenced milk and two tablespoons of Vanilla extract and whip it some more and that is your icecream base and how you can add Any flavour that you like ,maybe some mushed banana or strawberries or even some coffee And let it freeze for a couple of hours and enjoy!!!!🍨🍦🍦🍨🍧👍👍👍👍

I just ordered an ice cream maker; as soon as I post this, I'll return to what is already in my Amazon cart. I was born in Northern California. We moved back to Oklahoma, and I can remember on the dairy farm we had, we would make ice cream with those crank ice cream makers. My mother would sometimes add peaches or something else in there; my mother was a fantastic cook. On holidays people just showed up because they knew she cooked so much and they would be welcome. She took a pie to work, and the assistant manager locked it in the safe. I just ordered an ice cream maker; as soon as I post this, I'll return it's already in my Amazon cart.
