I make something similar I use Malaysian Coconut Oil it has a melting temp of 92 F instead of reg Coconut Oil that is 76 F. They hold up better in hotter climates. I really like your presentation , very well done :)

To clean your bowl just put it back on your double boiler till the remainder melts and wipe it out with a paper towel then, wash it in hot soapy water. This is how I clean my candle jars when they are used up. Works great.

I was going to say just about the same thing! Just fill up the vessel with boiling or super hot water. I place a paper towel in my sink to catch any oils/wax reside so it doesn't go down the drain. Great minds think alike lol :)

I always make my hand cream with : Coconut oil, Vaseline, Spf cream, and a little bit of argan oil. Then i melt it and put it in a container and then in the freezer for 15 minuts. I made 3 of those! For my friends. And they love them!

I think shea butters smells...funky. It has a peculiar, piquant rancidness that's baked in and throughout it, as if kissed by the Texas Summer sun. I want my lotion bar to have a chocolate-ee vanilla scent, no other notes of oil of old lady lavender. What should I do? Use vanilla extract? Or maybe go pandan green? I like the scent of real pandan.

Melinda Henley Ahhh, don't hate the old lady lavender! Let it love you! I put it in almost everything, from bath salts to lotions. Not lip balms, that would sting and be gross. I make my own healing balms with plantain-infused oil and lavender is a key ingredient as it has so many amazing benefits. It is a powerful antibacterial - I use it for first aid for cuts and other wounds. Even my young niece asks for it for boo-boos now. It will dry up a pimple quickly when dabbed on. It will heal burns faster and it is the only thing that takes the sting out of bug bites. Seriously, I don't go anywhere now without a little dropper bottle. Ok, I mixed the last batch with some frankincense, but only for its skin-healing properties as well. But yeah, I agree with you about the she butter. Not a fan...

We leave ours out of the fridge often and they don't just melt. But if they were in a hot car they would definitely loose shape. The beeswax definitely helps!

Clean your dishes 1st with a steel Mesh ball That will get 90% of it out of the dishes the rest use a Teflon coated spuns I'll take the rest of it out

You said to keep the lotion bars in a cooler place because coconut oil melting temperature?? The whole point of formulating any type of lotion bars are that they melt in contact with body temperature, and body temperature is 36-37c. The coconut oil melts above 25c, and most rooms are just few degrees below under ACed condition. It’s not exactly right of what you said. The body butter including yours has bees wax, cocoa butter and both of these have very high melting temperature. These would not melt easily by your body temp., and that’s why you add liquid oils. So in normal room, it would be totally fine. Only reason you may want to keep at lower temp is to avoid the lotion bars to go rancid and they would keep much longer if kept in colder temp in airtight container than without, especially that you didn’t add any type of antioxidants like vitamin E or ROE.

I believe that those wanting to use Essential Oils or Blends in products absorbed by the skin should complete a basic aromatherapy course to learn about the Common toxic Oils that can cause quite severe interactions. I making my first batch with lavender. I put a little lavender on my temples or the area of tension when I feel a migraine coming and it just goes away. Im hoping this will help with muscle pain and cut down on buying moisturizers w chemicals not needed. Also love the fact that I don’t need to use new plastic containers and bottles. You can try the whipped body butter, it doesn't have beeswax in it. Because beeswax is water proof it will do that.

When I have a burnt up candle I put the jar in the freezer. The wax contracts when its frozen and pops out in one piece. Not sure if it would work with the wax bowls but worth a try?

I think I made a mistake. So I used equal parts of Shea butter and beeswax but didn’t have equal part of coconut oil so I used 3/4 coconut oil and 1/4 almond oil. I am not sure what did what but the bars came to be very sticky and stain-y too. Is there any way to save the already made batch or would you just throw it out? Thanks!

I see many people have made some very relevant comments... my concern is that you didn't mix the EO enough, when working with a wax, you are supposed to stir for 6 minutes, non stop, to ensure emulsion.. if that is true EO, it is dangerous to not ensure a complete emulsion, EO can be dangerous when used improperly, especially if you put it on your skin. This should not be allowed on KZbin.

I pretty much use this recipe for my lip balm and I love it. You can't carry it on your pocket, or very hot days outside. My lips are always so soft and no nasty chemicals that are in most lip balms.

You can def smell the cocoa butter but you can smell the oils too! You don't have to add the essential oils if you don't want too.

You can keep them in the fridge.

This is the issue if you want a natural product. Shea butter has a melting point of 113 so use that instead of lower melting point butter and add more beeswax which melts at 144. You can also keep it refrigerated and post in insulated bags in the summer.

A little tip for getting beeswax from boil water for it again with some dishwashing liquid use paper towel to do your keep your kitchen. Top on hot it helps to keep yourself kitchen sink clean thank you for sharing your Greek recipes with us 😊😍😘💗❤️🙏
