Reminds me of my late father's knack for determining a need for something, designing then constructing it. Great job, "Handyman"!

Google is listening to my conversations again. I was just talking about building a replacement rack, now your video pops up. Excellent fabrication work!

Thanks for sharing, nice song, and the project, man that's was a looking for.

It looks like it turned out very nice. I probably would not have used EMT since it bends so easily, but your fab work was quite good. Keep on!
@jcat51508 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the share. I never thought of using EMT for this type of construction. Looks clean and sturdy.

I built one myself and I didn't need a bender. Just used the already bent pieces.. Painted with truck bed paint and used metal grate for the bottom.

How did you mount it? I've been wanting to build one but I'm not sure on mounting options for a 14 jeep wrangler
@ThisTall3 жыл бұрын
That looks pretty good! Not sure I’d trust rivets over time with 150lb up there though.

I like it, how you did a easy, professional, really well done video, from start to finish, good job brother why people make it, so complicated and try to show all and at the end show Nothing, I'm looking forward to copy your stile, thanks keep it up, well done!!!!!

I have been wanting to build a roof rack for my cucv and I'm still debating on what to use but I really like this idea. I may build one for my girlfriends Jeep first to try it out......haha

That turned out great. Nice job man. I was wandering how well it's holding up & what kinda load strength it can carry without bending the pipe? Also how well the rivets are holding up over time & wear. I really like the idea of using EMT it's very light. I'm thinking of using the same materials.

Very Cool!....I probably would have painted it with appliance epoxy which is an ultra durable paint with only one coat!

Awesome job! Been designing plans for my truck as well, except gonna mig weld it together. How well does the conduit tube hold up? It is something I've considered also because it's cheaper than grade a seamless tubing. Very cool bro, rock on!

Looks awesome! I made one almost exactly like that about 10 years ago for my Vanagon Syncro but sold it with the car. Now time to make a new one for a Land Cruiser I recently purchased. I welded mine and it lasted forever. Just have to watch out for the fumes when welding that stuff. You are in Mn? Me too.

How did you connect the bends to the next piece in line to make the closed circumference?
@HiSpeedDrifter8 жыл бұрын
This is nice. You could make it with PVC if you don't have all that pipe bending stuff. I made a contoured wooden roof rack and people always ask how I made it.

Pics? Video? I built a stitch and glue kayak a few years back. I've been kicking around making a glass on wood box to sit on my Thule bars, next to my kayak. Would look cool in stitch and glue or cedar strips (depending on how ambitious I am...lol)

Good use of the floor grating but from my personal experience bending round tubing and welding it creates a very poor bond. My experience is from awning frames. It's good enough but don't step on any one weld specifically.

unapro3 my point was your an idiot to assume that me asking for a full video would mean I have no skill and I don't need to know you to know your skill or to know that only the weak and sad attack people to make them self feel smarter this in itself shows me your skill
