Well, now I know what I’m making for gifts this coming Mother’s Day! Thank you for the recipe and tutorial. I want to fill cosmetic tins that hold eight ounces so I guess I’ll have to figure how to adjust the measurements you gave here - unless you know what that would be? How much beeswax and how much olive oil?

You have to convert and calculate ml / gr to ounces. Or keep to the proportion 1:5 - 1,35 beeswax / 6,65 ounce olive oil. All the best.

I usually make mine with a 1:4 ratio just a little more firm than your version works great on dry feet too.

Hello. I don’t think, that if I show how applying the balm affects my skin, it would be indicative enough. Besides the amount, that is applied, the type of skin (normal, dry, oily), as well as the current “shape” of the hands, caused by weather conditions, work and other factors, are essential for its absorption and the final effect. In general, I can say, that my skin absorbs this balm slowly and after applying, it creates a thin and greasy layer on it. But it is rather individual, than a common rule.

No matter if You add essential oils to the carriers or not, You may always add Vitamin E to the balm as an antioxidant. It would last longer. All the best.

You can. Find a high quality essential oil of your choice and generally speaking, add 1 drop of oil per 1 ml of liquid. Add the essential oils AFTER it comes off the stove. Heat kills essential oils. From this, you can add more or delete some the next time you make it. You can also use regular coconut oil (NOT FRACTIONATED COCONUT OIL) instead of beeswax, but you have to keep it refrigerated so it stays solid. I used regular coconut oil ( i didnt want to buy beeswax because I had lots of coconut oil) and I had an old 2 ounce balm container and I added 60 drops of frankincense oil (good for the skin). 2 ounces is roughly 60ml, so 60 drops oil. I hope this wasn’t too confusing. Lol.

My approach is slightly different. I calculate the ratio between essential and carrier oils in percent. I add 2 percent essential oils compared to the carriers, if the balm is for adults (2 ml/100 ml, for example), and no more than 1 percent, if it would be applied on kids. Counting the drops is an option, but having in mind the different densities of the oils, I think it is better to use test tube and calculator :) All the best.

I don't use it as lip balm, so I can't say. Usually in lip balms instead of olive oil are used sweet almond, shea butter, coconut oils... There are a lot of different and useful recipes. All the best :)
