Homemade siren 5

This is an 8 port siren. Made from plywood and I did put the grinding wheels back on! Both not just one!!! Enjoy! ~cheers

Best one yet. The ports on the stator are big compared to the ports on the rotor which drastically decreases the sound output. Maybe if you made the ports a little bigger on the stator this would be much louder!

I don't think so, but its not far behind. after I took this video I took the siren apart and moved the stator things alot closer to the chopper. so far it seems pretty good, I have ran it up to almost full rpm with the intake covered but when ever I took it of as it was winding down, it was alot louder than before!

8 ports, assuming 3450 rpm (57.5 revs per second) for the grinder (based on a quick internet search of comparable grinders), works out to about 460 hz.

I meant to say bigger on the rotor cause they don't allow the air to pressurize as much as you could make them. Is this one as loud as your first siren you uploaded to KZbin?

the way the chopper is mounted on to the motor is that there is a washer that sits on there before you put the chopper on there and it sticks out about an inch from the motor. and another thing is is that you don't want to make the chopper to big otherwise you will overload the motor and thats not good!

Hey Jacob! Right now I'm actually working on a new siren. It's a 10 port siren that is hooked up to a blower on the bottom. I hope to have it done in a few days. I will probably get a video of it sometime next week. I will probably do a distance video as well, just not sure how far to go out.. ;)
