HOMEMADE SUPERSONIC 8-BALL CANNON vacuum and compressed air (Experiment) Part 4

The 4th experiment in the Supersonic 8-Ball Mission series. “Compressed air vacuum cannon”. We endeavour to make an 8-ball break the sound barrier and go supersonic. Destin on @SmarterEveryDay did it with a baseball in ‘Supersonic baseball cannon’, using a ping pong ball vacuum cannon style system and adding compressed air. The mission is to eventually get the 8 ball to travel 761mph the speed of sound but over 1000mph would be good. Adapting a ping pong ball vacuum cannon into a compressed air vacuum cannon as we go to get the 8 ball supersonic and be the world’s fastest 8 ball.

Homemade vacuum / compressed air cannon in a bid to have the world’s fastest supersonic 8-ball experiment. Using the principal behind the vacuum ping pong ball air cannon we take it further with an 8 ball and then using compressed air. We attempt to break the sound barrier and go supersonic. Wonderful content, this made my day. Have you considered referencing Mark Rober's T-shirt Cannon for design concepts? It isn't a perfect match but many of the same characteristics still apply.

use a longer barrel and a burst disc rated at at least 800 psi instead of a valve you should easily break the sound barrier

The barrel is fixed but the blast disc idea is good. Where do you get them?

@@VERYMENTAL you might have to make it out of different thickness aluminum with a x etched across one face and test them on your little compressor in a separate jig or something I know mythbusters bought them but I don't know where .

@@VERYMENTAL there ya go that's a good idea also soak a rag in oil or diesel and put it behind the ball when the pressure hits it it will diesel and dramatically increase pressure we use to do it with air rifles by oiling the back of the pellets
