Quick fact: You can buy the actual seasoning mix that Taco Bell uses in their meat, if you happen to want to make it taste identical. Or at least you can here in the States. And condolences on your loss as well. As a fellow who lives in a very rural area losing a dog is something I am unfortunately very familiar with. Damn rattlesnakes, copperheads, and coyotes have cost my family over a dozen dogs over the 32 years I've been around.

Here in the UK the seasoning mix tends to usually be made by a company called old el paso. They do seasoning mixes that you're meant to make things like fajitas and for taco fillings. So that would probably be the closest. They also sell kits. Supermarkets do their own versions aswell that are the same thing. But usually it's better to just buy a seasoning jar that's just labelled as fajita seasoning. They last for multiple uses rather than as a one off sachet to make one meal. 🙂

@@Matt19matt19 I haven't looked at the boxes that closely, but the Taco Bell seasoning mixes I've noticed are labeled as being sold by Taco Bell itself. Of course Old El Paso is a big Tex-Mex food producer here in the US as well, so it could be one of their products instead. Kind of like how some drink brands market themselves as independent brands, but in the fine print you find that they belong to either Coke or Pepsi.

I don't know if the UK has it available but here they sell flat crisp corn tortillas that are used for tostadas (similar in concept to an open face taco). Your use of the taco shells was a good idea though. The only things missing are the seasoning mix for the meat that's the taco bell formula (a bouse to some people though) and they usually put their mild sauce in it like most of their burritos.
