Nice system I used a 4X4 and a bathroom scale with excellent wheel chocking on a Cargo Trailer I built into a small toy hauler /Camper got a tounge weight on it but then I bought a new Dually 3500 Diesel truck so it could take way more tounge weight than I actually had my best freind laughed at me because I liked having water tanks full onmy long drives pulling my other campers I told him it was because it made my truck ride like a Caddilac with the springs compressed a little bit so it was a better ride that way
@MarionBlair3 жыл бұрын
Yea, me too. The more tongue weight the better the ride, even with the coils. I like full water also especially when overnighting to destination in Walmart's etc... The Rockwood has a weak water tank however so I have to be careful.

Very interesting. But some thing I will never ever do. I will weigh my tongue Weight. But will not make your device. Thanks for all your videos they’re very interesting and informative.

So here is my plan. An amazon triple bag air jack that is on sale for $100 and then put a 200lb gauge add-on with a second quick coupler and valve. So I can open the "factory" valve and use my add-on to measure. My question is, what did you take the radius off? the pipe or the area of contact with the jack?
@GunGuyOK Жыл бұрын
or the area of the footprint of the jack?
@MarionBlair Жыл бұрын
The radius of the inside of the pipe. I first calculated area which is A = π r². Use the inside radius. then Area=Force x PSI
@GunGuyOK Жыл бұрын
@@MarionBlair Thank you sir, but I'm confused as to why that? I Amazoned "Mophorn Pneumatic Jack 3 Ton Tripple Bag Air Jack" So what should I use the radius of? The top of the bag at the bottom of the top plate?

Terrific project. Thanks for the video. I presume you added air slowly so as to lift slowly. What air pressure was available at the source. If you had, say, 120 psi at the compressor what kept your jack from continuing to rise until it vented air?
@MarionBlair3 жыл бұрын
I had a little 1/4" ball valve at the air inlet but as a precaution, I shut my compressor off just above the calculated pressure I would need. And yes, I didn't show it because it would look ridiculous but I had a helmet on and hiding behind a sheet of plywood.
@toolman.dustin3 жыл бұрын
@@MarionBlair thanks for the reply. I speculated you had the tank regulator dialed down. So, now I understand. I did notice the plywood and gloves. I'm considering making this and use water pressure as a lift medium. Bursting wouldn't be much of an issue with water. Thanks again.

@@MarionBlair did you confirm your findings with another tongue scale yet. I’d be interested to know if your home made scale was accurate.
@MarionBlair3 жыл бұрын
@@NickBeek It appears to be pretty close. I had my wife stand on the tongue (133 lbs) and the difference was within a few lbs. Also the increments on the gauge are in 2 psi so I'm having to interpolate a little. I lubed it up good with some silicon grease as opposed to spray also. I do get a little bleed off apparently past the O-ring so I may add a double O ring. I keep a little pressure on it so the tongue creeps up extremely slowly and the gauge steadies out perfectly.
