Another easy way of getting a good vacuum is by using a venturi valve in combination with an air compressor. We have been doing it this way for some time. Our air compressor is a 100 liter version, and only kicks in every now and then (depending on the leaking of the bag) The venturi valve creates a really good vacuum.

Do you have a link to that type of valve?

@@f.d.6667 The one we are using is called a "Stritzelberger VTVE1 vacuum pump". we bought it at Amazone. amzn.to/3tm2USw

Could one use a vacuum cleaner?
@constechable4 жыл бұрын
Doug Syler I have never heard of anyone doing that so I don’t know. The problem is I don’t have any kind of a oven so my Apoxsee is going to need overnight to dry and even if I use the vacuum I don’t want to have it running all night long while I’m gone so this was my answer.

Great video, but think I might just spend bit extra and go with ready built composite vacuum pump. carbon fiber infusion and plumbing tape sounds like expensive disaster sooner or later. Good setup though if your on a budget.
@constechable3 жыл бұрын
I only used the mastic one time, it wasn’t plumbing tape. I picked up the proper stuff for the second project but had too many air leaks other places. That’s why I’m learning on beginner projects so I can get it perfected for the important ones.

What thread size is the 90-deg elbow fitting that is installed into the pump body? Is that metric (or other on the pump side) to 1/4"NPT?

You really need to be at least a minimum 23" of vacuum to do proper carbon fiber infusion. My Gast pumps will pull between 27"-28" all day long. 18" is just not enough and will allow to much resin to cloth ratio resulting in reduced strength composite.

Tom Beasley Actually the problem I’ve been having on the several projects I have done is it’s pulling out too much Epoxy and leaving hollow spots.
@tombeasley19434 жыл бұрын
@@constechable I'll watch your other videos and see if I can detect anything that might be causing that later this evening. Are weighing all your cloth and planning for a 45% resin weight per material weight?
@constechable4 жыл бұрын
Tom Beasley The back where I have the pool place looked great but if you look at the front there’s some areas where there’s pitting that didn’t get completely filled with Apoxsee. On the second project I even put a layer of Apoxsee on the form and I still got it.
