Hilary not so long ago I was in your season of life. I cherished the quiet moments. Now I am alone… all alone. My children have grown up with lives of their own. My husband has passed away. I am reinventing my life but I long for those days. The days when I felt like I was not ever going to have enough time to get everything done. You are wise to know this season is short. Linger there and continue to enjoy those little ones. It is the most important roles that we have in our lives.

@Carol Schultz This was so well said. I had chills up my spine. My babies are all adults and off at college. I remember thinking when they were little that the days were so long. I was sooo wrong. That time was short and fleeting. If only I could return to that time. I would spend every moment playing with them and would find a way to get the housework done when they were asleep. I found out the hard way that those dishes will stay in the sink and wait for you. May God bless you in your new season

years ago I read an article that said this in various ways.... someday you will yell " if you slam that screen door one more time!" but no one will be there to slam it..... if I have to pick up these toys one more time... but there will be no toys in the floor.... if I have too pick up these shoes one more time...but there will only be your shoes ... cherish every crazy busy moment that you are surrounded by love and children .... you are blessed

Yes, the blessing & honor of homemaking continues even as an empty nester. My husband of 35 yrs. passed away when our girls were 10 & 12 (14 yrs. ago), so I’ve experienced different versions of homemaking. Recently I realized that even though it’s just me at home now, I still implement the daily cleaning/laundry/tidying habits I’ve developed over these years. Why change what works well?! 😊

I needed to hear this today. I've been married since I was 18, almost 49 years to a wonderful man. We were very fortunate in what the Lord has provided for us. I was a stay at home mom to 2 boys (a full-time volunteer firefighter/EMT also during that time) and I loved it more than anything in this world. It was not always perfect but I had such a blessed life. Then they grew up. As they are to do. Now 42 and 39 I have been given 3 beautiful grandchildren who are now the light of my life. I feel as though I have a purpose when they come stay with us (they are local Praise God) and most of the rest of my time at 66 with a now retired husband I wonder what am I here for if only the grandchildren? You brought up some valid points that I will apply to my life now in this season. I need to watch again and take notes. Enjoy your time now. Everyone said it would go by so briefly, and sometimes I wished that but I loved my life more than anything in the 80s and 90s. It was my reason for being and I guess somewhere along the way I lost that and found it again in the brief time I spend with the grands. There is so much to be thankful for. I know how gracious God has been so good to us and I do lose sight of that. Thank you for reminding me today and for throwing out new things to be thankful for. I watch so many KZbin channels but your's is definitely one of my favorites as is your home. Everyone else looks the same but your's stands out in it's classy simplicity. Much like I decorate. God bless sweet girl and thank you for this. xoxTX Deb

Good Morning Hillary & viewers - I bought a magnet for my refrigerator that was a great reminder for me; Cleaning a house while children are growing - is like shoveling snow while it’s still snowing!! Homemaker is a mom no matter how many different hats she wears. Some stay at home, some work full or part time, some are disabled. All of us have a goal of raising our kids right in a loving home. Enjoy everything even the bad days. Those bad days will remind you how He carried you. They will bring tears or laughter but remember He will or has seen you through! Don’t beat yourself up. Take time to breathe, praise & pray. Your a great mom & wife Hillary a wonderful example for moms out there. I love how you are content & thankful with great faith. That is key!! Have a great safe blessed day everyone! 😊🙏🏼❤️

Hilary, what wisdom you are sharing here! Far too often, we have unrealistic expectations for our home or caring for the kids and you've shone such much needed light on it! Our first grandchild is just days old and I can tell you from years of raising 3 kids and homeschooling for 20 years, those years (that seem endless) are such sweet times and they are fleeting! Cherish every day and hug those kids! You are a beautiful example of a godly woman and mother! Keep letting your light shine! Love your content, even though I no longer have small kiddos. Now, I'm a caregiver to my 85 year old father who lives with us and a keeper of the home. Love your sweet spirit! Blessings!

"The Trap of My House Will Never Be Clean and Quiet, But Why is That Even My Goal", should be the title of a book (your book) that every homemaker should be required to read. I wish someone had told me that when I was younger, it would have helped me more than you know. I think it's why so many women choose not to be homemakers. They believe the measure of a good homemaker is a PERFECTLY clean and quiet home and that's all, but it is so much more. I really think you should consider writing a book. Your effortless way of simply demonstrating how to incorporate concepts such as homemaking, organizing, thrifting, and cooking, just to name a few, has helped many of us that watch your channel. Thank you for the videos. They are instructional, entertaining, and relaxing all at once. You and your family are such a blessing.

I was where you are now 20 yrs ago. You are correct in that you have to keep your focus on the tasks at hand, and come to terms with this is your life, messes, constant hard work every day, and being privileged to be a stay at home Mom . As difficult as it was sometimes, especially after my husband passed when my children were very young teens, I have continued to be able to be a stay at home Mom because my husband provided for us to live well. Being a stay at home wife and mother was a dream of mine that came true, and thankfully continues to be, as a Mom. Yesterday was the 13th anniversary of my husbands passing. And with that yearly reminder, I am always grateful what he provided for us to continue with. You are in the best part of your life, and it will go by very, very quickly. Enjoy every moment that you can, and plan for the future. tfs 🥰❄☃☔🏜💗✝🔆🥰❄☃☔🏜💗✝🔆🥰❄☃☔🏜💗✝🔆 Love, Denise in Arizona.

Love watching your videos in the mornings while I get ready for the day, I find them motivating. You have also motivated me into not wasting money and to live more simply which I’m really loving. You have such a balanced life between God, Family, and KZbin! When I was raising my two young sons, I always attended a women's bible study group and went on a women's retreat once a year. It made me a better wife and mother! Setting time aside to be with other women, studying the Word, and taking time for yourself is the trifecta of a balanced life. One book I would recommend for mothers and wives is the "Envy of Eve" by Melissa Kruger. It's a great bible study on being content where you are in life. Be blessed today, Hilary!📚😊❤
