On putting the pasta in containers, it helps to clip the directions for cooking the pasta off one of the packages and taping it to the container for future reference. It is better to have the directions and not need them than to not have them and need them.

My take on life is that if you make life about owning "things" then eventually things own you ... I'm sure you understand, Amy - we have such a similar way of thinking ... I got up last night and couldn't sleep ... so I reorganized one of my small kitchen cabinets ... that little exertion and the sense of accomplishment I got made me drop right off to sleep ... Hi Amy I watched this video and it inspired me to take out all of my food items from my kitchen cupboards and my pantry and rearrange them into date order from sweet to savoury. Thanks and God Bless.
@Mokiecon4 жыл бұрын
Tip: If you write the expiration or best by date on the box in sharpie, it will be easier for you to see what needs to be eaten first. For some products like beans etc that have a fairly long shelf life, I will write the day I bought them so I know which ones to finish first. I also like to cut the manufacturing info off of packaging and stick it into containers in case there is a recall for the product. An example is flour is often recalled, so I now just keep it in the original packaging.

I store all of our off season outdoor clothing, shoes, holiday decor, etc. It is the most amazing thing ever. I have a box on the floor that has a bunch of canned foods, and then two shelves that I think were supposed to be for the bathroom? Anyways I use them for the things I like like: Suddenly Salad, and deluxe Mac and Chesse and extras like peanut butter and jelly and ketchup and mustard. I worry about it during the winter. I'm in a small studio, by the way. So if I can have some food storage, then anybody can. I seriously need to clean today. I buy water buy the gallon. I have 3 and 1/2 gallons right now.

Wow! You make me ashamed of myself for complaining about the small one bedroom apartment I live in. I keep dry foods that will store a long time [like rice and those yummy Idahoan mashed potato mixes, dry beans, etc.] in storage totes under my bed. I haven't even LOOKED under there for MONTHS, so FIRST I'm gonna have to capture some huge dust 🐇🐇 before I can even TRY to get under there! It is amazing what a person can do with very little floor space. I'm a HUGE believer in always looking [and building] UP⏫. SO much space "up there" is usually wasted space. Some simple shelving brackets and some nice pine shelves [custom cut at Lowe's or Home Depot, usually] can go a LONG way to increase storage, especially in closets [🔴WARNING: ⚠ALWAYS FIND THE STUDS IN YOUR WALL BEFORE DRILLING ANY HOLES FOR THE BRACKETS❗❗ I speak from EXPERIENCE😲🙄❗]. Good luck with your cleaning project today, Michelle.....I KNOW you're gonna get a WHOLE LOT more done than I will😐❗ ~ 🕊 ~

There are three reasons you DO want to put any dry goods into plastic containers. The first is to deter rodents and bugs from getting in, or being attracted there in general. The second is to reduce moisture getting in and to keep your food fresher longer. The third is, if you seal up something you bought, if it was infested in the store, you'll know after it is sealed up for awhile - AND it will prevent that getting into everything else! This has happened to me a few times over the decades! I too have stored a lot of food under beds. :) Thank you, Amy, as always, for your inspiring videos and uplifting attitude!!

Hi Amy, wish I had a walk in Pantry but I don’t. I always put crackers, cereals,pasta etc straight into containers,it helps in Aussie with the hot weather to keep nasties out, but easier to store them without packets,pouches etc falling over on the shelves. It’s a nice feeling when you get the mess, well untidiness, sorted out. I have a huge double pantry, not walk in, but still use half of one of my linen closets too as it’s near the kitchen because I never have enough room lol! Super video😍
