That century break by Martin Gould is unbelievable. Every time I watch it I think these shots are incredible especially that red that flies down the coushin and the fluke on the blue which isn't shown here are amazing. The double on that brown from John Higgins is probably the best pressure pot as well. Great video

I used to play but I no longer do. The eyesight is not what it should be any more. One of the things I noticed when I did play though was the difference between the accomplished players and the average player. Average players tend to take what is available to them and then pray that the rebound will give them something else to shoot at. Accomplished players learn to look at the balls and see the possibilities and ball interactions. They know what type of spin to introduce to increase their possibilities of making the shots. Not to take away from the accomplished players because they do spend many many hours practicing and experimenting but the major reason that they are so successful at what they do is the constant experimentation coupled with the ability to see and know the possibilities. You might try a shot a hundred times before you actually make it but it's the fact that you knew it was possible. A perfect example of this is shown at 7:27. Murphy knows that if he hits the cue ball with right hand spin that when it first hits the rail at a very slight angle it will continue down the table until it hits the second rail at a sharp angle and will kick back towards the red hanger in the side pocket. Yes, it is a very marginal shot and the chances are slim but imagine if you were playing him and saw it happen how you would feel even if he didn't make it. The fact that he saw it is enough to make many opponents quit. O'Sullivan saw it and knew it was possible so it was no surprise but the crowd of rubes were impressed to the point they would probably never get on the table against Murphy. The simple fact that you saw the shot and tried it is often enough to cow a lesser player into giving up and just go through the motions which allows you to win. More than once I took a game by simply seeing and trying a shot my opponent did not see. I didn't have to make it, I just had to show it. There was more than one game won when I saw it, tried it, and saw the "Aw Sh*t" look pass over my opponents face. The trick to getting good is to constantly play better players and lose but watch, study and retain what you see them do and then practice it and use it in your own game. When you start to consistently match or beat those players it is time to move up a tier to the next level of opponent to keep learning and developing your skills. One of my fondest moments when I still played was the first time my opponent reached over with his cue and put the object ball of my next shot in the pocket for me thereby ceding the game to me. I might have missed but he knew that he was outmatched and just gave up.

Only 3 players Alex, and currently Ronnie & Williams play so called exhibition shots while the frame isn't won yet! I think that makes them extra special. Others play them to clear tables at the end of frames when the frame is over.

Surely they could have found a better example of Alex Higgins, something from a match at a crucial stage rather than a setup exhibition shot that was recorded for a Trick Shot video, where if he didn't get it they'd either just not have included it in the video or they'd have let him have a re-take.

@@hudsonsoul1121 Dude snooker players, especially someone like Ronnie, has a much better feel for the table and where the pockets are. He doesn't need to look at where the pocket is, just where to hit the ball. Also if he tried it to the middle, why would he check with his cue how the 2nd red would go afterwards?

Also the pace he hit the shot at, almost perfect speed for the red to go in. There are so many things for why this was an intended shot:) But you keep your opinion, could of course still be a fluke
