Does the tensioner have to come off to access the bottom driver side bolts on water pump?
@HomeownerRepair4 ай бұрын
I think it was in the way, we may have removed it to gain access to those bolts.

do you know exactly which hoses you used as i am going to order them separately as im picky and like certain brands
@HomeownerRepair4 ай бұрын
I believe we bought them on Ebay. I am not sure which vendor was selling them. They came in a kit.

Im about to put my 95 back together and I had a quick question. My Haynes manual says I need 2 o rings on spindle shaft when mounting water pump but I noticed you skipped this step. Is it OK to proceed with no oring? I'm sure you've done enough of these to roll your eyes at.
@HomeownerRepair Жыл бұрын
It you follow the video you should be okay. When you take the old one out see if there is more than one oring.

I'm in the middle of a water pump job on my 96 and I also referenced a Haynes repair manual. Like you said, it indicates there are 2 Orings, one on the spline driven gear end and one on the back of the pump spline. Mine were missing completely, maybe they can deteriorate over time. Great work on the video! Thanks

What kind of gaskets did you use exactly, I have two choices one factory AC DELCO in pump box new and I have FELPRO gaskets as well. TWO emails and FELPRO swears to install their gaskets dry only. What exactly did you cover your gaskets with. THANKS FOR ANY HELP I am confused I see ChrisFix smoothered his in fine a thin coat of RTV. What shoulod I do! My AC delco box instructions say fiber gaskets most be used with a sealant.

We didn't use any sealant, we used a little bearing grease to hold them in place and to also allow us to see that the bolts have enough pressure on them when tightened.

Is it not necessary to use thread seal on the long bolts so that antifreeze doesnt leak through the water jackets and through the threads?
@HomeownerRepair2 жыл бұрын
We didn't have any leaks using the method that is shown in the video.
@alistairhart96992 жыл бұрын
The bottom bolt on the left side of the engine dose go into the water jacket and can leak without sealant.

All four long bolts tops and bottoms ones of my 95 had white sealant close to an inch long on the bolts tip area from factory I think. YES USE SEALANT

I changed the water pump on my 1995 Roadmaster which has an LT1 and I drove it for about 10 minutes and the water pump is blistering hot. It got up to operating temperatures and the hoses seemed to be a normal hot and puffy feel. Advice? Thx

Did you make sure the thermostat is working correctly?
@kurtjohn55549 күн бұрын
@@HomeownerRepair I took it to a mechanic and he didn't seem to be impressed that it was all that hot, thou I had the thermostat out this time. i'd like other people that have the LT1 to get their vehicle up to operating temperature and see if they can put their finger on it three to five seconds w/o a blister? would like to hear back. I will try one of those handheld laser temperature readers--thx

I found one oring on the new water pump shaft. The service manual says, the ringed mark on the tiny double female shaft goes against the engine block.
@HomeownerRepairАй бұрын
You can follow the service manual. The method we used was fine.

Is it necessary to remove the serpentine belt for water pump removal?
@HomeownerRepair Жыл бұрын
I think we had to.

@@HomeownerRepair definitely have to, as you do it creates space to get to one of the bolts. Found out today! Thanks for the reply anyway!!

You decided not to put an O-Ring on the coupler that goes between the Water Pump and the Cam Gear? I was hoping that you were going to show which side of the couple goes to which side of the Cam/Water pump. You did notice the O-Ring groove on the coupler?
@HomeownerRepair10 ай бұрын
If there was an o-ring in there we put it back on.
