1981.06.16 - Pink Floyd - Watching The World Upon The Wall

I was in Berlin and was able to experience The Wall concert from one and a half kilometers away from the stage. The massage is as relevant today as it has ever been in the last few decades In contrast to today, the iron curtain was lifted back then. We parked our little VW Beetle in East Berlin and smoked a gigantic pipe with hashish in the car after the concert, which we couldn't see ourselves in the car anymore. Then two people in the uniform of the "Volkspolizei" walked past our car, nothing happened to us and anti-aircraft searchlights could be seen on the horizon over Berlin and they moved back and forth. The gigantic concert was very surreal and about 50 meters away from the "Führerbunker", in the middle of the border strip between West Germany and East Germany.... It was really very surreal and out of time.

Nice to hear Comfortably Numb played at album speed and without the distorted guitar in the verses. I love and respect Gilmour but, his plodding versions are sometimes disappointing.
