On my MacBook Pro even with airpoods , its hard to really tell a difference other than volume differences. I will go by your real world observations. Frequency response graphs are useful but can't really predict what subjective listening experiences will be.
@MaxTechOfficial2 жыл бұрын
Yes. Sometimes frequency response charts can show a nice flat sound signature but in real life the quality of the sound just isn't there. I think I'm going to buy a better microphone and set up a small corner of a room that will do a better job at recording the differences. I know going through youtube and playing through someone's speakers won't show all the differences so I'll still give my commentary, but I want to make it better.

I just set up my 2 new HomePods second gen as a stereo pair, and they sound fantastic.
@brunorocha956012 күн бұрын
Here are my thoughts, and oh boy, it was a bit of a journey! First, I bought a HomePod 2. As someone who owns mostly Apple devices, I decided to give it a try. My conclusion? The sound quality is excellent, but it’s not particularly loud. It almost feels like they’ve repackaged the original HomePod into a “new box.” I couldn’t help but think they could have made it bigger and more powerful. Next, I decided to try the Echo Studio. I placed it side by side with the HomePod 2 and listened carefully. The Studio was loud-so loud that it made the floor of my apartment shake! However, the sound quality wasn’t as refined. That said, for its price, it’s impressive. Plus, Alexa remains my favorite virtual assistant. After more research, I discovered the Sonos Era 300. It gets louder than the HomePod 2 and delivers incredible sound quality. I found it at Best Buy in excellent condition for $380-a great deal! This was the speaker that made me the happiest. In the end, I returned the HomePod 2 and the Echo Studio and kept the Sonos Era 300 for my room and sometimes living room.

So hear’s my opinion: I have immense respect for the HomePod as a music-first device. I have 2 first Gen homepods in my living room paired to my Apple TV. I don’t want a smart speaker. I don’t need a smart speaker. The HomePod to me has always been a music listening device first, that happens to have smart speaker functionality. The HomePod mini is a smart speaker, that happens to sound decent. But my favorite thing about the HomePod, besides it’s sound quality, is that there is NO EQ! My old roommate and I built our own custom DML speakers, and they sounded amazing, but I’d come home some days and he’d be listing to these things at max volume but also had turned the treble up so high that it was painful to listen to! So he always complained when I would dial the treble back down. ANYWAY the HomePods are the first speakers I’ve ever listened to (AirPods Pro and Max’s also) that sound EXACTLY they way I want them to sound out of the box for every type of music I listen to. I’ve listened to the echo studio, it still comes across to me as a smart speaker first, music device second. Even in this video it sounds way muddier to me compared to the HomePod. I have yet to find a speaker(s) that can replace a stereo pair of HomePods in overall sound quality, the sound signature (this is more subjective, or personal), and soundstage.

disable audio normalization on spotify on the iphone and you’ll see the homepod goes much louder than what youve tested. spotify connect on the echo does not use normalization so it is not fair in terms of volume if you tested the homepod with spotify’s normalization that reduces loudness a lot
@victoregea53112 жыл бұрын
i’d like to note also that the homepod does not have spotify integration because spotify does not want to, apple allows third party services since 2020 but spotify does not want to implement it. also airplay 2 has been out since 2018 and spotify still refuses to update their app from airplay 1 to airplay 2, and thats why it has a 2-second delay with homepods and other airplay 2 speakers/tvs and also dropouts sometimes

Why didn't you use 2 nest audios as an audio pair like you did with the home pod mini review since the mini and the nest audio are about the same price and you can get 3 of them for the price of 1 homepod 2nd gen? I'd love to see that comparison.
@MaxTechOfficial2 жыл бұрын
Honestly, I didn't expect it to sound that much worst than the others. If I would have known I would have gotten 2 but with that, based on other stereo pairs I've tested it wouldn't make it sound much better, other than being louder overall and having stereo separation. I still won't have very much low end. The HomePod Mini's that use a single speaker have more bass and better sound quality than the Nest which has a tweeter and a woofer. Of course, the Nest gets louder but the sound quality gets even worst when you turn it up past the volume of the Mini. (In the sound quality comparisons I had all of them turned down to the level of the Nest where it sounds its best). I Wish they still made the Google Home Max, I recommended that to a few friends that wanted loud speakers that sounded good. It was even louder than the Echo Studio.

I've got 5 Nest Audio's, one Google Home Mini (old, but still works great), 2 Nest Hub displays and two Google Wifi Points (which sound about the same as the Nest Mini) and a Chromecast Audio. Should I have gone with HomePods? No, because: 1. I do not consider them smart speakers, which for me is an important aspect of having speakers around the house. So, I would have had to buy separate products for that. 2. Nest Audio is great for casual listening, I use real speakers connected to Chromecast Audio for high quality, concentrated music listening. 3. The price, my wife would not let me spend that much money :) Still, I prefer listening to a stereo paired Nest Audio compared to a single HomePod that costs more. 4. Apple doesn't play nice with Spotify But yeah, if you ignore the price and just consider audio quality, the HomePod is clearly better.

I have been spending weeks trying to decide between the E studio and HP2 and no matter the different reviews I decided to get the HP2 for one simple reason, phone app. My echo is 7 years old and the app hasn’t changed and the echo is the only Amazon device I own. And the Amazon assistant is worse when it comes to requesting to play a certain artists and ends up recognizing it as some other artist I never heard before. Plus the Amazon echo is more invasive to me with the constant notifications of anything and the app has them turned off and I still get them. The app from Amazon is on par with anything windows makes, invasive and not user friendly.
