I wanted to thank you for making these videos. I watched a ton of your videos last year on how to lay tile. My husband and I did it together and laid over 2,220 sq ft in our home. Home Depot wanted to charge us over $10k to do our tile. I learned so much from you and love that someone who never laid tile before can learn. The best part is we added some new tools for future projects. 😊

I tore out a lot of tile in the home we're in now. The hardest room was the one where someone tiled over linoleum. Not a single tile had a crack. When I finally got it out, there were clearly cracks in the concrete slab. Made me a believer in the decoupling philosophy.

Obviously I have little experience with tiling, that's why I'm watching this video. But I was surprised that, after you did all the figuring on the right side of the laser line, you didn't make sure you weren't going to end up with slivers on the left, either against the left cabinet or the left wall. Also, I was shocked that anyone would ever start tiling from a corner. I've never seen a room that was perfectly square. I started from the middle (after laying down tile to judge where it would end) and my goal was to have no less than roughly half a tile at edges. Cutting a straight line is pretty trivial.
@voncolborn94372 жыл бұрын
Jeff, or someone else who actually knows, In thevery last segment 'When to cut" Jeff talks about getting all of the cuts done and install them all at once so the thinset does not dry out. What is unclear to me, from the first couple of statements is whether or not he is saying to thinset all of the whole tiles on one day and then thinset the cut tiles on day two. Or is he saying to place all whole tiles (without the thinset) and make the cuts and place them (again w/o thinset) then on day two start the actual installation (with the thinset)? I hope that my question is clearer than mud (so to speek).
