I've got my first rising 9th grader coming up. It's great to see others that have already walked the walk.

This is by far one of thee best videos I’ve watched. Not only are s your commentary great, but your transparency is HILARIOUS! I was cracking up when you did Marine Biology and then Notgrass.🤣🤣🤣 I thoroughly enjoyed it! Thanks!

I just discovered your channel and I am planning to binge watch it tonight! My eldest is a rising third grader and he sounds so similar to yours son! Mine is a visual and kinesthetic learner who needs to have fun while learning…he is also a reluctant writer. This past year I had mostly black and white workbook style curriculum….it wasn’t a completely failed year (almost! 😂) but I am on the hunt for fun, colorful curriculums that are kind of outside of the box. He likes logic/game type stuff as well. Thank you for the videos you have posted! I’m sure looking through them will help provide me with some great ideas.

Spelling Power works as long as you need it. There is no stopping point until the student becomes a master speller. And it's in just one book!

Do you recommend WriteShop? I’ve seen your older videos and just wanted to see if you had any thoughts about it for the 3rd - 6th grade range. Thanks!

I totally understand the disdain with prep. I haven't used TGATB for science, but it would hold me back from reaching for it as well. Okay we (really just me) also dropped the ball on geography this year. It was one of those things that at the end of the month I realized we had opened the book once and I tried to quick squeeze a few lessons in before the next month 😆 We use OSSS and I completely get what you mean. We just finished our third grade year and we aren't yet done with part 1 text. I reeeeaallly hope we don't wind up going into 5th with it!

You're sweet, thank you! Makeup is fun for me but I'm no influencer. I've thought about some 'get ready with me' chatty videos so maybe I could try that some time. ;)

We use dimensions math(singapore math) for 4th grade and 2nd grade if your looking still. They go through 8th grade and idk about hight school. Colorful and for advanced math, read the concept then do the lesson. Then test at end of unit. They really give you great ways to learn the concepts and that paint a picture in your head. Maybe look at it.

I love mosdos! We are also 1 year off on it but only half way. We only for through half of the 3rd grade in 3rd grade and finishing it now in 4th. But i have my 2nd grader just listening along to the concepts and storys and answering review questions orally

Great video Lady! I always enjoy your videos and I am excited when I see you in my KZbin Newsfeed. I recommend Logic of English Essentials for Language Arts. It is amazing, Secular and you get everything done in one shot, except Writing and for Literature you just do a Read Aloud a day.

@@PurposefulHomeschool It really is like the scientific explanation of the English language. Very easy for parent and student to use. It is expensive but so so worth it. Plus. We will be using it probably until 8th grade.

I was laughing about Marine Biology and Our Star Spangled Story!! Same issue here with TGATB science units.. too much prep. We have slowly been making our way through OSSS as well.. I don’t know why, but it’s easy to put off. Nice video. Thanks for sharing!!

Have you ever looked at Spectrum writing? I am wondering about the pros and cons of Evan Moor 6-trait writing and Spectrum and which would be better. Any experience/advice? My daughter is 6th grade and, like you we make sure math and LA get done daily. The art, science, history, geography, health and all the other rich and interesting things seem to be crammed in or left out. There are not enough hours in the day. And yet those other subjects are the ones my daughter enjoys the most.

I've never looked at Spectrum writing so I can't comment on that one. Evan-Moor 6-Trait is a good one if you don't need a really in-depth writing curriculum. It covers all the bases and gives incremental steps to take for each writing assignment.

Wordly Wise vocab didn't stick for us either. Vocabulary cartoons and Fix it Grammar (looking up a word from the story and copying the definition) worked great for retention.

Can you make a video on Shiller math but for book 4,5 and 6. I am specifically interested in the way they teach fractions. Please
@PurposefulHomeschool
@PurposefulHomeschool 2 жыл бұрын
Good idea! I had meant to do that before now but it slipped my mind. I will say that Fractions are covered in it's own kit, not in Kit II. It is meant to go from about 2nd-3rd grade through pre-algebra. We always did Fraction Fridays and worked in the Shiller Fractions kit. It's phenomenal!
