We've been using Moving Beyond the Page for almost 2yrs and I absolutely LOVE it! I do supplement with some other materials but it's an incredible core curriculum. Worth every penny!

What made you decide to homeschool your daughters? Would you be open to public or private school if they start asking to go?
@TheMoranFamily2 жыл бұрын
Originally we started homeschool because we were in the process of pcsing with the military, I was pregnant with Everly, and we didn’t have a home yet. So with all that happening at once we didn’t want Laylah to miss any school so we decided to homeschool. For 1st grade Laylah actually asked to try public school and we were going to enroll her but C*vid happened so we decided to keep her homeschooled since public schools were closed and were doing virtual learning. At this point with everything still going on with all the changing mandates and the talk of public schools closing again I have no plans to stop homeschooling any time soon.

My daughter used to ask to go to school all the time and so did my son for a little while when they were young. But once we started really homeschooli everyday they simply ask to study. I think there is a lot of mention of schools in books and cartoons and shows it as this real cool place for kids to go to so that gets them asking.

So will this be a complete year lesson work for 1st and 2nd grade?

I noticed you’ve used timber doodle before. Why are you no longer using it? What did you like and not like about it? Which would you recommend? I have two sons, a 5 year old and a 2 year old.

What made you switch from Timberdoodle?? I am new to homeschooling my 9 year old
@TheMoranFamily2 жыл бұрын
It wasn’t challenging enough for my daughter. It was too easy for her so she was getting bored. We did love it for kindergarten & 1st grade though. I will most likely be using Timberdoodle for my other daughter Aurora who will be starting kindergarten this fall.

Does moving beyond the pages tell you when would be an appropriate time to read each of the books they sent? It seems like so much lol
@TheMoranFamily Жыл бұрын
There’s a parent manual to go with the student manual. So it breaks down the books for each lesson.

Is your daughter still in second grade or have you moved up a level yet? Curious if you liked it enough to continue it the next year!? I am considering it for my 2nd and 3rd graders next year.

She’s now in third grade and we continued to stay with Moving Beyond The Page. We really love it! It’s easy to follow and provides a ton of resources to go along with each lesson.

What do you mean by common core? Like the whole curriculum follows are common theme? Or do you mean it meets common core teaching standards in public schools?
@TheMoranFamily2 жыл бұрын
This curriculum meets common core state standards. The same standards that are met in public school.

What curriculum are you using for Aurora?
@TheMoranFamily2 жыл бұрын
She’s not enrolled in school yet because her birthday doesn’t meet the cut off so I’m homeschooling her very loosely. I’m mainly doing Homer, education.com worksheets, and a few things from Laylah’s old Timberdoodle curriculum.

Do you know if this would be available in Canada?

Yes! The curriculum is available. I believe you would just have to pay more for shipping fees.

Yes unfortunately most common core curriculums will be pricey. It’s everything you need for a full school year. Instead of buying the full kit you can buy each concept individually as you finish teaching each one to break up the cost throughout the year.
