I was so glad to hear you say this about math and fractions. That’s the same math we did with my daughter this year and at the end of the year we are going back and doing lots of extra review with fractions because I do not think she has it all down. I have not heard of that math that you switched to so I am off to google!

Yes Beauty and Truth does an excellent job of breaking down the concepts in a way that the kids can understand it so clearly. I’ve also recently been trying out Math U See, and they also go through each concept in a lot more depth than Primary Mathematics does. It also goes all the way up to grade 12, which sadly Beauty doesn’t at this point. But it is an excellent program!

Very Nice, We love living books. We are doing Sonlight but have run into some of the same things, but I love it enough to keep trying for a few and see if they will grow on my kids.

Yes we love living books too! I’ve found that they don’t always have to love every book, as long as they are able to track with the stories and learn something from them!

Great video! We felt the same way about the alveary science. My kiddos wanted more hands on. My eldest loves all things science and math and he just didn’t connect with most of the science books (6th grade). We switched him to Berean Builders and he is in heaven. With my 3rd grader we started doing unit studies on different topics of interest. Next year she’s asked to d Berean Builders as well after seeing her brother. So glad you found what works for you and you are confident in that. Many people don’t realize that Charlotte actually used textbooks at times when she taught. Some can be living for children

Thank you! Yes, I agree that a lot of people don’t realize that Charlotte Mason used a variety of teaching tools besides living books. We will be using Berean Builders this September! Glad to hear it was a hit for you!

Charlotte Mason methodology is more rooted in nature study as science. The why and how are not spelled out for the student. The child must do the observing and discovering for themselves. It's one area that Charlotte Mason inspired curriculums fall flat in, because Charlotte Mason intended it to be student driven. It would be better if they offered a range of resources at various grade levels arranged by topic. That way, you can pick and choose based on student interest what to study.

Yes that is true! I have read that in her volumes. That would be a great option!
